@glitterbag,
This is not a representative republic.

You lament there being too few candidates.

There can only be two under this hypocrisy you think is a democracy.

Remember the Greens candidate and her running mate getting arrested for attempting to attend the mainstream "debate"?

Lesser of two evils is all you've got. You can think this is a "precious right to vote" for. Knock yourself out.

The rest of the world thought Bush2 was the worst it could get. You were a laughing stock then.

The way i see it, Lash used a word people here were not familiar with, and as a result a tempest raged in a teapot for a little while...

As for the scars this debate could leave on the A2K membership, what permanent scar did the 2008 elections leave? They were hotly debated too, where I was posting at the time (yahoo).

What a crock of ****! Is this kindergarten?

Teaspoon of cement and harden the **** up.

It's a political post. If you don't like the heat, leave it alone.

@Builder,
???

Just saying: Lash used a word ("neoliberal") which some people here are unfamiliar with, and as a result some brouhaha happened. I am not saying it's Lash's fault. The brouhaha (or "tempest in a teapot") was a knee-jerk reaction by people who never heard the word before.

@spooky24,
You do realize that Trump is a NY "insider", "well connected" to the Wall Street millionaires and their legislative "gridlock" that prevents meaningful reforms and funnels billions of tax dollars to corporations, millionaires many of whom have never held a real job in their entire lives, right?

This particular non politician has already told you what he is going to do and it's pretty disastrous. You don't have to guess and hope, you can look at what he has promised and see that he will crush the country faster than he crushed the USFL.

There is nothing to argue about. That IS what happened.

People here are getting crankier by the split-second. The earth ain't gonna stop spinning if Bernie or Hillary gets the nomination. Chill out already.

@revelette2,
I do, in the limited sense that I have a keen interest in seeing progress on the middle east conflict and on climate change, issues that only Sanders is really interested in, among the candidates.

I just hope we don't go completely off the rails and elect a carnival barker like Trump. But, if that's what the rest of the voters want, I suppose I've been mistaken about the American people. We will be the laughing stock of the world. Some of you don't care how other countries view us, but when we elect a fool for a president it just trumpets we are morons and are exploitable in so many ways.

That's what happened when you elected Dubya, unfortunately the joke was on us.

@izzythepush,
I'm more concerned about how 'stupid' Americans are for making Trump the top runner of the republican party. This racial bigot who wants to build a wall between the US and Mexico has no place in American politics. He's a joke; a dangerous one.

I know our system seems complicated, but until the primaries are over or until possibly contested conventions we will not have only 2 candidates. Maybe you think voting is futile? In your been there, don't that bored amusement at the foolish Americans believing their vote counts, I'm pretty sure I suggested you go **** in your hat. It might cheer your dismal butt up.

And for the new asshole Spooky, I'm an American and as long as we have the first amendment I can express my opinion. And you can go **** in your hat as well. And for the naive who think Donald Trump is not a politician, wake the **** up. Vote for him if you want but please don't tell me Trump is an outsider. And when he runs the country into bankruptcy, just where do you think he will be able to file for bankruptcy? What? Maybe the World Bank. That's rich.

So what's going to happen, are the same idiots who voted for Bush going to elect an even bigger clown? Cruz is still running, how's that for making your blood run cold.

P.S. The important election doesn't occur until November 2016. Nobody actually is elected until then. So in the meantime all the hoo haa is unnecessary. Maybe that's the end game, exhaust the voters so they won't really care to vote in November.

To many Americans giving a non politician a four year term just to see if it might change things for the better-is worth it considering the fact that his opponent represents everything people hate about the privileged Washington 'insider'.

I almost forgot, Welcome to A2K. I see you have given yourself a new name. Good luck with that.

@Olivier5,
We've already went through this, in the end, despite all rhetoric, Bernie says Israel will have to make decisions for themselves so, nothing really changes with him either. But perhaps, just him voicing Palestinians concerns is a step in which I hope others will copy.

That's your assessment. Mine is that Hillary will not even try to lift her little finger for the Palestinians, whereas Bernie will try and do something. And on global warming, he seems much more "real" to me.

What some people seem to miss is that regardless of a Presidents druthers, he/she has to consider the impact on the world or the region. Someone in that position no longer has the luxury of looking the other way. It's too simplistic to say they are worried about their legacy, the entire world watches what our government does. The president has to maintain and adhere to the principles and ideals our country was founded upon.

I'm not saying all the presidents have lived up to that all the time, but that's the job.
