This is currently trending as "Hitler Grandma." Trump's supporters don't seem to be at all coy in letting people know what they really are.

I was forgetting that Republicans aren't to blame for anything they do, say, think or impregnate.

I don't know about all that, but I do think I saw where the Nazi grandma wasn't a Trump person. I'll try to find it.

Yeah, is there video of her being harrassed out of the rally for "pissing them off?" Then I will believe she isnt a Trump supporter. Make sure a shot of her being elbowed in the nose is part of the vid too, k?

@parados,
Sorry but the police are the ones given the power to enforce the laws and used force to stop crimes not the KKK or BLM and if they go beyond their charter then they should be punish and or prosecuted.

Somehow I do not feel bad when a criminal attack a law enforcement agent and come worst off I do not feel all that bad about it at all.

No one force Mr. Brown for example to attack Officer Wilson shortly after doing a strong arm robbery of a store owner an just due to his dark skin does not mean that he should be allowed to attacked a shop keeper and then try to kill officer Wilson.

But if the black citizens of the town could find the time they could voted in the kind of police department that would allow the Browns to run wild without interfere.

@Lilkanyon,
Hey, I'm no Trump apologist. I think the guy's scum. I was just passing on what I thought I saw . Still trying to find a link.

(edit)
Found one - she is a Trump person, it appears. That was just a rumor about her being a Bernie supporter.

Twitter swiftly spread a rumor that Peterson was a supporter of Bernie Sanders by the name of Portia Boulger. Although the women slightly look similar, Boulger said she was nowhere near the rally via a Facebook post and followed it with a tweet this morning.

@snood,
More about the Heil Hitler grandma:

I think it's important to point out that obviously, this person is not representative of anyone but herself. The sad thing is not that crazy lady did crazy, but that crazy lady felt that her crazy was entirely welcome and appropriate at a Trump rally. It's not that she represented them, they and their leader represented her.

Donald Trump has triggered what Driftglass calls "The Great Un-buckle-ing," where all the overeaten stuffed racism and fascism in America's white stomach is finally allowed to flop on the table. This woman just let it out, let her fascist worship of great white man Trump go full bore. She didn't become this person this week or this election cycle. But now a major US political party, the Republican Party under Trump, has become home for her.

This is, I thought, a good answer to the rightwingnuts assertion that Obama caused the rise of Trump. It was written by someone going by the name 'GrantS' in a comments section in Salon:

It's Revenge.
Republicans want revenge for losing to Obama, not once but twice. But more importantly that Obama has had no scandals, slowly improved the economy, and has made foreign policy choices that are not disasters (not perfect, but not disasters). Obama kept America safe and tried to improve the country. All this while doing it black. That Obama is found laughing and smiling throughout drives republicans crazy.

That is why Obama has caused Trump. Trump is promising a form of revenge.

@snood,
What's funny is Trump's "I'll make America great again" meme when Obama already made it great. Trump and the republicans are blind. The US is the only economy that's continuing to grow. I'm not aware of any other president who has grown the US economy while the world around us continues to shrink or remains stagnant.

I read on DU a post purporting to be from the fb page of the person who took the photo. In that she definitely was a Trump supporter. I can't find it now either.

I haven't heard a single example of bigotry by Trump.

Saying, "I think Islam hates us," is bigoted.

Saying, “when Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people,” is bigoted.

The problem is that the top one percent or so is getting 99 percents of the benefit of that growth.

@izzythepush,
"Hitler Grandma" Picture Gets Context

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CdUT0DyWAAAtDpJ.jpg

We've all seen the pic at this point, but I really didn't want to really get into it until I had some context. The gent in the picture hsa provided that context now via his FB post:

So here's my story about this picture, and I promise you it's the god honest truth :

my friend Sean Kavanagh and I are walking out of the UIC Pavilion filled with some of the most palpable joy I've ever experienced. We did it. We fought for the truth and for a moment, a brief day, WON.

As we are leaving Trump protestors form small sections, small channels where Trump supporters can pass through to exit (a kindness which isn't quite afforded in the inverse when ya know, people get sucker punched being forced out of Trump rallies).

As people are walking out we're saying things like "Bye racists", "You lost. Please just go home now." bc many are leaving with shoves and shoulder checks, begrudgingly, but most with pent up fury.

The woman pictured with me and what looks to be her husband we're stragglers in the pack, and started responding to people's jeers. Some guy ripped a sign out of the man's hands and another man leapt out of nowhere, encouraging everyone around to respect them and let them leave (again, sometimes America is amazing).

This woman is a human being and although I don't share her views, I start yelling "I will respect my elders. Please. Leave." and a few other great folks and I start to clear the path. I walk right up to her and say "Ma'am we have listened to you. We understand this is all a little wild but we have cleared a path for you to leave *my right hand was constantly swinging in motion, showing her the path out we made for her, as shown in the photo*"

She goes, and I quote "Go? Back in my day, you know what we did-"

Bam. Hail's Hitler.

I go "Ma'am you are endagering your life doing this. LEAVE. TAKE YOUR HUSBAND AND LEAVE." (I mean, anyone who knows me knows I get loud, so you know, sorry about that.)

And she won't. She won't budge. A young woman comes up to me and says "She wants this. Leave her be." looks to her and goes "God bless you. I hope you make it home safe." and I walk away from her astounded.

I have never experienced anything like tonight. To see America rise up for a man who hates so much of it, then for him to get checked so wonderfully by a city I love so much, and then for his followers to scream and cackle to the bitter end.

So many fights were stopped. So many people protected others instead of encouraging mayhem. Don't believe the hype : protestors only stoked a fire in these people that was born long before they had Trump to personify it.

Hate is real my friends. Vicious, hurt you if you aren't watching, worse if they can get away with it indignance was in so many eyes there.

I say that bc know this : hope is real too. Hope that when we stand up against hate from time to time, and collectively, we can defeat it. Or at least silence that beast, for one damn night.

We are at a point in America where those people, Trump supporters, make me sad. But the ones who make me angry? The incredibly intelligent, brightest minds I know, who sit on their hands and do nothing, don't vote, don't volunteer, and pretend as though their knowledge abdicates them from action.

The world is broken, I learned that best from Christianity. But I don't believe even one thing on this Earth is beyond repair, and I learned that from Christianity too.

You don't have to share my belief in Christianity, but I am asking you to stand up against hate. Or this woman's slanted arm never bears a greater weight than her own ignorance. She may never get the shot to understand love, living in the world where that symbol actually rules again.

Don't let that happen. Do something. Please, for the sake of everyone, do something.

Here's more:

Trump supporter explains what led to 'Heil, Hitler' salute at canceled Chicago rally

Source: Chicago Tribune

A 69-year-old Yorkville woman and her husband are defending her actions after a Tribune photo showed her giving a Nazi salute during an altercation with protesters outside UIC Pavilion Friday night following the ill-fated Donald Trump rally. The photo of Trump supporter Birgitt Peterson went viral on social media this weekend, causing some to wonder about her motivation for making the gesture.

Peterson, who said she emigrated from West Berlin and has been a U.S. citizen since 1982, said the salute came during an argument with protesters and was simply her response to them giving her the Nazi gesture. Her husband, Donald, insisted: "We're not skinheads, we're not Nazis."

"So Birgitt decided to teach them to do it,'' said Donald Peterson, who insisted they were "not Nazis'' and absolutely not supporters or "saluting'' Adolf Hitler.

"I lifted my arms," she said, adding that in German she said, "Hail to the German Reich." A protester who was photographed with Peterson, Michael Joseph Garza, told the Tribune on Saturday he did not believe Peterson was responding to anyone else when she raised her arm in the salute. "I went up to her and said, 'Ma'am, please leave, we have understood you, we have made a (path),'" Garza recalled. "She said, 'Go? Back in my day, this is what we did,' basically, and then she hailed Hitler."

"They said Trump is a second Hitler," she told the Times, recalling that one activist next to her that night had held aloft a photo of the Nazi leader. "I said do you know what that sign stands for? Do you know who Hitler really was?"

"I make the point that they are demonstrating something they had no knowledge about," she said. "If you want to do it right, you do it right. You don't know what you are doing."

It was then that she gestured in a Nazi salute.
