They did. And the prez has no power to act without congressional approval, but he did.

And if you think these are theories, do you just use CNN of Fox?

Nearly 20 percent of Trump’s supporters disapprove of Lincoln freeing the slaves
Not. The. Onion.

http://www.vox.com/2016/2/24/11105552/trump-supporters-slavery

The New York Times took a dive into whether Donald Trump's supporters are unusually racist — or, in the newspaper's delicate phrasing, "responsive to religious, social and racial intolerance." And they came up with a stunning statistic: Nearly one in five Trump supporters didn't approve of freeing slaves in the Confederacy.

A YouGov/Economist poll in January asked respondents if they approved or disapproved of "the executive order that freed all slaves in the states that were in rebellion against the federal government."

That executive order is better known as the Emancipation Proclamation. Thirteen percent of respondents — and "nearly 20 percent of Trump supporters," the Times reports, compared with 5 percent of Marco Rubio's — said they disapproved of it.

It gets even worse. An additional 17 percent of respondents said they weren't sure.

And the other 63 percent didn't know who Lincoln was.

The use of "diverse" is ironic, of course.

@bobsal u1553115,
It's no accident that David Dukes endorsed Trump. Just the most recent of several White Supremacist figures to pledge their support to him. Here's something to really sit with for a moment and think about; I mean, really stop and consider this just for a couple of seconds, so you don't get distracted by what some of these yahoos on A2K are saying about the merits of the Trump candidacy:

In a survey, 1 out of 5 of Trump supporters wish the slaves had never been freed.

From the article:
Beyond Trump’s own talking points, Public Policy Polling further revealed a grocery list of bigotry reflecting the attitudes of Trump supporters. In comparison to primary voters who support Cruz and Rubio, twice as many Trump supporters were in favor of banning gays and lesbians from entering the country, a number that is five times more than John Kasich and Ben Carson supporters.

@snood,
David Duke and Donald Trump are a marriage made in hatred. The good news is they feel comfortable enough to spew in public so they can't ever deny their bigotry. The bad news is it will resonate with the that irreducible but significant 20% demographic of dingbats in the US. Fortunately all we need to do is turn out the vote.

We need to change Congress and it'll take six to eight years to do it.
