Typical conservative charge - such as "hack - says nothing. He has to explain why, and he can't. Rachel Maddow is a liberal to be sure, but I've not heard anything she has said that is untrue.

This dog isn't laying with h2... My point is, he's angry, and we are angry and our society isn't working for any of us... If we are going to change things we have to make the effort to understand each other and communicate... The rich, the parties, the religions, the government -are all sowing disunion...It is mutual respect and amity that makes a nation, and we have damned little of it... I don't like everything h2 has got to say and I don't like his way of saying it; but I want very much to be able to work with him and others like him on a new constitution for this country, for this people... Are you with me; because we are never going to find unity from those people surviving on our enmity...

I'm all for reasoned discourse. Even our legislature has seemed to find some common ground. And, I think we have more common ground than we think. But it's hard to respond to insults unless in kind. I try not to respond, and responding in a comedic way like I do is probably just as bad and condescending. But, simply calling someone an ass does little to add to the conversation.

I generally try to respond to posts from folks like yourself or Finn because I find much useful information in them. We don't always agree, but that's why I come here. I don't just want reinforcement for my own views. I welcome challenges, but not baseless name calling of myself or anyone else.

There used to be decorum in debate, but then someone found out they could maintain an edge by yelling louder. It does nothing to add to the overall goal of sharing information. I would suggest that if the only response you can think of is F--- you, it is best to have some patience and let it pass before you post. That's what I do.
