I am the aunt to five nieces ages 14-22. Not all girls are ready for a boyfriend at the age of 12, it is still very young for committing to a relationship other than innocent friendship. One of my nieces was still playing with Barbie dolls when she was 12. I understand you like this girl very much, but I think there is a big maturity difference in a 14 year old boy and a 12 year old girl. Most important, she has expressed that she is not interested. If you try to push her she will probably start to avoid you. You never want to make a girl feel pressured to do something she does not want to do, it makes them dislike and distrust you. Sometimes you just have to accept the fact that what you want is not what another person wants. You need to respect her feelings and look around for another possible candidate for your affections. Maybe in a few years she will change her mind, but for now you need to act maturely and move on.

Because often the people we admire and identify with when are 14 are not the same people we identify with when we grow up. It's okay, it's normal. You like Marilyn Manson because he likes to "thumb his nose" and shock the adults. When I was 14 I wanted someone to do that for me too. When I became a grown-up that didn't matter anymore because I was one of the club.

So you two are best friends, but you want it to be more than just friends. However, you have seen (or heard about) her rejection of other people who ask her out. How do you know she will reject you as a boyfriend? Has she told anyone she is not interested in you? Has she told you personally that she is not interested in you as a boyfriend? I think a 12 year old is more girl than teenager, so I am not surprised she might be avoiding a committed relationship.
