Just continue to be her friend and maybe your relationship will evolve into more as she gets older. I agree she is too young to handle a romantic relationship, but as time goes that will change and you might be the first in line.

I like MM's artwork, he has a talent. Have you seen some of his paintings?

MM the artist doesn't shock me, he's been around for decades. It's just his job, and it's just makeup and ink on paper.
Imagine how many albums he's sold because parents got freaked out. I mean, ya Gotta buy his stuff if he freaks out your parents, right?

the answer is than none of us know this girl, so none of us can say. At 12 some girls have BF's and are having sex a lot and basically doing everything adult women do, some are still playing Barbies. THe question you should be asking is what signs should you be looking for that she is ready, and I dont have an answer for you.

For now hang out with her, have fun, watch and learn. I get worried when kids are in a hurry to grow up.

I was speaking relationship wise...My cousin had her first baby at 13, and I think she got herself impregnated at 12, on purpose. She was 12 going on 17. It happens. IN the UK an 11 YO gave birth, but generally teen birth rates are from 12-18. 12 YO's do have sex and do get pregnant.

If 5% of 12 year olds are active, and a boys likes a certain 12 YO, I could not in good conscience tell him to resist trying for her if he wants her. The odds are high enough to make the effort worthwhile.

But use a condom.

This idea that most 12 year olds are still playing Barbies and no way interested in boys I have to think is 99% wishful thinking.

Also, keep in mind that the medical community wants girls to get the HPV at 11 or 12 YO. Why? Because too often 13 YO is too late.
