I cant believe nobody has mentioned "Julia" with Diahann Carroll.
We watched that show religiously when I was a kid.

And there was another one that I watched regularly, even though it was on reruns.
It was originally aired in the 1950's.
Does anyone remember "You Are There" hosted by Walter Cronkite"?

@Eva,
YES! How could I forget.

He did a show after he had been reported as dead. "Brought to you in Living Color." Major emphasis on the 'Living'.

Person to Person. I think Edward R. Murrow was the host.

Zoo Parade with Marlin Perkins. He also hosted Wild Kingdom

Rin Tin Tin

Lassie--first there was a Jeff (I think). Then there was a Timmy.

Not a TV show, but a commercial that no one seems to know....

Anyone heard of this one?

It was a Ring Ding commercial, in black and white.

It was always unsettling to me. These 2 little kids (or was it one?) chanting..."Wish I had a Ring Ding, wish I had a Ring Ding"
The chanting kept up until the end, when the kids would say "Wish I had Another Ring Ding!"

It was weird, like watching a Fellini film.

They creeped me out, that those 2 little dead girls in The Shining"

Anyone?

Anyone?

@chai2,
I was hoping I could find your commercial, but no.
It ALMOST rings a bell. The twins from the Shining is a powerful image!

We talk about kids and commercials today, bet there were shows that we watched as kids JUST because of the commercials. We'd wait through the show until they played the commercial, sing along, and turn the TV.

@Phoenix32890,
for sure...Gail Storm. For sure. Mrs Odetts was her elderly across-the-hall neighbor whom often provided comic relief comments on Margie's shananegans. her dad woreked at Hunneywell..or something like that.

Later on her next series (laqte 50s eaely 60s) she was on a cruise ship as social director on 'Oh Susannah', where her side-kick was actress Zasu Pitts.

@edgarblythe,
Sky King
starred Kirby Grant was the lead actor. He really did pilot planes. the sponsor was Nabisco.

Pinky Lee...kids variety show, preceded just before the timeslot for Howdy Doody show. Pinky wore a checkered suit and baggy pants (in true vaudevillian style) and a goofy undersized hat...(pork pie, maybe)? Went off a bit after he had fallen ill on air due to an infection. There were wildfire rumors that he had an on-air heart attack and later dies, but those proved to be totally inaccurate.

re: My Red Skelton character question--who were the birds?

Skelton opened with a monologue. The monologue often lapsed into character humor, with two of the recurring bits being "George Appleby", a perennially henpecked husband into whom Red transformed by donning heavy black-rimmed spectacles and a misshapen derby hat, and "Gertrude and Heathcliff, the Two Seagulls", which he performed by crossing his eyes and sticking his thumbs into his armpits for "wings".

That from wiki. The seagulls were driving me nuts!

Even without a cheat sheet I have one not yet posted that I thought was the coolest of the cool! "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."

And where is "My Favorite Martian"?? Early Bill Bixby, who went on the play the sublime father in "The Courtship of Eddie's Father", one of the best, sweetest shows of all time. Thank you, Mrs. Livingston!
