All in!
Let me see if I can do better job of explaining the different picks amongst our 4 leaders here.
Spendius disagreed with JPB on the Baltimore @ Atlanta game. Atlanta won so advantage Spendi. He has Buffalo while JPB has Detroit. A total of 2 games but with only 1 to play.
Spendi and LionX agreed on Atlanta but Spendi has Pittsburgh while Lion has NE. 1 game difference.
Ragman had Baltimore. Ragman has Cleveland while Spendius has the NYJ. 2 game spread with 1 game already in Spendi's favor.

JPB and Ragman differ on 2 games after both misfired by choosing Baltimore. JPB has the Jets while Rag picks Cleveland and Rag has the Bills while JPB has the Lions.
JPB is one down to LiontamerX with the Ravens losing to the Falcons. 2 remaining games are still in play. JPB says Detroit while LionX picks Buff and JPB thinks JPB picks Pitt vs LionX's choice of NE.

Finally, LionX is up 1 over Ragman after the Thursday night Atlanta game.
They differ on 2 additional games. Ragman has Cleveland while Lion says Buffalo and Ragman is going for Pitt while LionX thinks NE. 3 games in all.

Since everyone has made picks (remembering that folks are welcome to change choices up until kickoff Sunday afternoon)-
The Baltimore-Atlanta game was a tossup. I am scoring it here, though, as a game that has been decided.
We also split 12-11 on the NYJets @ Cleveland. The smart money, but not mine, is on Cleveland. Detroit @ Buffalo is also 12-11 as is St Louis @ San Francisco. I see that the 49's QB is injured and will probably not play.
At the other extreme, only Alex has Miami over Tennessee; Jespah alone thinks Denver will beat Kansas City; and Mysteryman is the only player choosing Cincy over Indy.
Jespah and George pick Carolina over Tampa Bay and George and Rhys display their genetic hatred for the NY Giants by choosing Dallas.

Lmur and Spendius agree with the majority here on every game (excluding the tossups). A whole bunch of players agree on all but 1 game.
George, though, disagrees with the majority on 7 games.
CoinToss50/50 agrees with the majority on 6 and disagrees on 6.

@realjohnboy,
Thank you for these wonderful analyses.

They're the best part of the season (IMNSHO).

@ehBeth,
Thanks, EhBeth.
Early on, at the beginning of this thread or the ones in years past, I made mention that here was a place where folks who know little about the NFL could sound intelligent around the water cooler after the week's games were over. That was our goal. Amusingly, we have actually gotten smarter.
I keep a notebook on the NFL, collecting snippets of stuff.
Two "use 'em or lose 'em" things:
> The NFL owners and the Players' Union are in rather vicious debates that could result in a lockout/strike at the beginning of the next season. Someone like, perhaps, Panzade, may be able to report on that better than I can. I see today that the owners want to extend the season from 17 games to 18. They would eliminate one of the two meaningless pre-season games. Each team would get two rather than one byes during the season. But the 1st of those would be in Week #1 or #2.
> Somewhere in Pennsylvania, a sheriff's department serves civil warrants on people. But if they show up in a police car and ring the doorbell, no one answers. So they got a van, decorated it with Pittsburgh Steelers flags and logos painted on. They pulled up and loudly turned on the Steelers music, and the people would come out of the house and end up paying the piper.

@realjohnboy,
That story about the sheriff dep't warrant servers is priceless. Laughing

That labor issue with NFL owners and players is once again billionaires fighting with millionaires - my least favorite major issue about the dynmaics pro sports. They want to expand the 16 game schedule to 18 games. There are a lot of other financial impact issues wrapped into this, too. Expanding the schedule affects the players bodies. I don't see where they (players) are going to get more money or a bigger piece of the pie.

In fact, I don't see how NFL won't be forced to shrink down and remove 2 franchises in order to balance their ledger sheet.

@realjohnboy,
In the 2010 season, unless the CBA (collective bargaining agreement) is extended, the rules will change so that players don't become "Unrestricted Free Agents" until they have played at least six full seasons in the league. They will be "Restricted Free Agents" if they have three–five full seasons in the league.

Among the items covered in the CBA are:

The league minimum salary
The salary cap
The annual collegiate draft
Rules regarding "free agency"
Waiver rules

This ought to make the highlights: Houston and Jacksonville tied with 3 secs to go. Jacksonville throws a pass into the end zone. A Texan bats it away, right into the hands of a Jaguar. Touchdown.

Bears win big over the Vikings even with 10 penalties and 2 turnovers. Mr B always loves it when I pick the Bears to lose. It seems to bring them good karma. Rolling Eyes

WOW!!!! Jets TD with 0:16 to go in OT. That's the closest I've seen to a tied score at the end of OT in a long time.

That was an exciting ending.
Through the games completed so far, Region, Spendious, LiontamerX and Rhys are 6-2. AndyClubber and George are 2-6.
