Why are we so emotional when we reply to threads?

@ehBeth,
Still, the written word can be a very good way of conveying the writer's emotional state, even if we don't realize that possibility.

I think it is used more to elicit the emotion.

If we don't realize it, how can it be a good way to convey it?

Sarcasm itself is not an emotion, but it is a way of conveying emotions: it always hides -- hence shows -- negative emotions, like hate, petty, or some kind of disliking, no matter how tender.

You can have a very good musical instrument without knowing how to play it: given enough time (words), a writer eventually reveals him/herself.

@guigus,
Are you serious? How does that analogy fit anything to do with this thread? Given enough time?

Maybe you should check your instrument at the door before entering.

Indeed, your post has much more to do with this thread.

@guigus,
There you go. All is not lost. Your emotion comes to the for, but you somewhat successfully hide it. Just a touch of sarcasm flowing and all within just a few words. I am proud of you.

In general, the ones who do not recognize the power and subtlety of the written word at conveying emotions are the same ones who do not recognize its power and subtlety at conveying philosophical concepts.

@guigus,
Then, perhaps, you would feel more at home in a philosophy thread? Just asking.

See how the written word is a fine instrument?

More at home in a philosophical thread than in which other place? Just asking.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about here when you mentioned a philosophical thread: I must confess I am not quite following you.

With all due respect, I disagree, since it deals with philosophical discussion, which is an essential practice to philosophy, although philosophers tend to forget it.

@guigus,
I usually go by what forum the thread is in. This is not a philosophy thread. Also, this is more than a philosophy forum.

Sorry, now I see your point: this thread is only tagged with "logic," not with "philosophy." But for me philosophy encompasses logic, and "emotion" (another tag) is a philosophical subject as well. In fact, philosophy can talk about almost anything, it has no subject boundary to me: it is more an attitude than a discipline. Remember what philosophy means: the love of wisdom. Hence, whenever your attitude is that of a wisdom lover, you are making philosophy.
