@Pinochet73,
Scooby-doo, I also feel great sympathy for those south of the broader. Ist the Spanish, and then we took over. The whole problem is that natural resources should be publicly owned, not owned by a handful of very wealthly people. All of these countries are rich in oil,gold and other natural wealth, which should go to help the poor. @Pinochet73,
While Biblical literalism is tragic, not all Christians are fundamentalists. Some adhere to the Social Gospel. They adhere to these in varying degrees. Most fundamentalist are good people in some ways, and wish to do what is right. They have just been misled. They lean too much towards let alone capitalism, the subordination of women, and are too strick on children, and most of them never heard of imperalism, and do not understand American foreign policy. Most Christians are not strick fundamentalist, they are somewhere between the two poles. They are teachers, lawyers,accountants engineers, soical workers and low paied sales clerks, fast food workers etc. We need their votes in next year election to bury the Republican party. We must make them ubderstand that we are their friends and wish to help them.

when somone takes the bible or any other religious text for that matter completely literally, they will believe some pretty silly things!

indeed if someone took the bible literrally they would believe the earth had 4 corners if science had not shown that to be false.

i find the bible very useful............

to steady an uneven table.
to hold loose papers down.
to keep my fireplace going.
to throw at unwanted guests.
to confuse evangelicals.
to use as a highchair.
to block the light from my window.
to keep drinks from leaving rings on my table.
etc...

@Pinochet73,
FF prehaps we have come down too hard on religious people. I try not to be disrepectful, but I do get aggravated with some of them, because they do not realize that they are being used. Generally speaking, they have opposed everything that would benfit the human race. These include birth control, the germ theory of disease, the inequality of women and people of color, and have a blind faith in the infallibility of the justice system and capitalism with its siblings raceism, coloniallism and imperialism. They don't even seem to realize that Jesus was the most outspoken soicalist that ever lived. He had Karl Marx beat all to pieces. Also, the Bible tells us that the early Christians sold everything they had and gave half of it to the poor. How many of them do that today? Instead some of them are the most staunch supporters of the great monopolies and canyons of wealth that comprise modern society, and how it is possible to make grown men and women believe that a snake could have ever talked is beyound my power of comprehension. Well, you can get aggravated all you want. I think you're interpretations of history and the human plight are seriously inaccurate and jaded beyond recovery.

@Pinochet73,
Wrong Pinodet73. The true enemies of the American people are the Saving and Loan Assoications of the 60s and 70s who advertised insured saving accounts. They were insured alright, some by private insurance compaines who went bankrupt. Their victims were mostly middle class working families who lost their life's savings. Also, the insurance companies who have prevented universal health care for everyone and the teaser loan companies who have got many people so much in hock that they are in balls and chains. S&L Ass. who "sold" ISA's sold ISA's to people who could read. Many people did not bother reading. Who's to blame?
Insurance companies have prevented "universal health care"? If they have, God bless them. "Universal"? Does that mean everybody in the universe?
Health care, even in the free market system is slow and cumbersome at best. Not to mention outrageously expensive. Now, you wanna talk about "free" health care for everybody in the universe? Get a grip. Every hypocondriac in the universe will be standing in line, checking each other's pulses while the sick lay dying on the sidewalk.
Teaser loan companies, you may have a point on. But once again, it goes back to reading. Personal responsibility.

@Pinochet73,
I agree that many people do not have the intellectual abilities to make good choices. Just ask people to name the three divisions of the fedual government and see how many can. People would rather watch a ball game than read a big city newspaper, Newsweek, or Time. This is why they do not know what is going on in the world. Also, people have blind faith. Many believe in the infalibility of the justice system and many did not realize that the housing bubble was going to bust. I predicted this three years ago when I wrote my book, " I Thought I Would Never Make It Through The 4th grade." While the savings & loans assoications actually did not break the law, they acted unethically with the intent to take advantage of a gullible public. This was unchristian and is an example of the hypocrisy of American society .
