@mark noble,
You can just put a universal in your signature box and cover all bases without taking up very much extra screen space, then people who choose to view the forum without signatures can do so.

I am NOT asking you stop for me,
I think they are great and lovely and put me at ease,
they inspired me to sign off my own better,
the writer and gladness in me enjoys doing this very much,
Do you see it as an art form?
that and the fact I am trying to not be misunderstood as an opposition to good spirit and well being.
So I have found I am using mine partially as a defensive mechanism.
Do you do it as a partial defence mark?
To ward off the god awful post demon known as lost language?
Meaning lost or unfound Meaning, lost or unfound language appreciation, lost or unfound accent, interpretation and translation?
By signing off in a friendly open welcoming manner are you trying to calm those who may think the worst of you before the best?

All my best to mark a wondering wonderful wanderer and lighter of the lighter heart.

@mark noble,
No, nothing to worry about. You do not need to confine your salutations to the signature box, Mark.

I think Reyn has already admitted that he was "out of his mind" when he wrote his earlier post. Smile

I think that the use of familiar monikers is okay. I use one. Joe Nation uses one. I say do it, if you have fun with it.

This is such a great idea it deserves repeating. The reason this is such a good idea, Mark, is it gives the individual control over what they are required to view as a signature line. It also removes all responsibility from you to remember whether or not an individual member is one who has opted out of receiving your salutations each time they post. If they don't want them, all they need do is turn off the display of signatures. It doesn't require a public declaration of their wish to be free of the salutation.

Yes, I think this is a great idea.

When the option for opting out of viewing signatures became available (some time back), I did.

@Butrflynet,
Please forgive me this,
But is not this reply a contradiction in terms to your own signature which reads "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Albert Einstein.?
If not could you please explain further what your signature means?

Also is the problem for those who do not wish to read it or for mark for writing it?

All my best, I hope the Butrfly you caught today was brightly arranged and that once you catalogued it you set it back on the wind.

@wandeljw,
I would like to be the recipient of well thought out curses. Curses are such an overlooked part of our language heritage.

"May your peepee dry up and fall off in the paddock where itll get trampled by the ox and sheep ,so that when you DO find it itll be so disgustingly mangled and dessicated that youll never be able to rehydrate it and reattach it to your pubic stump."-Old Gaeilc curse

I am personally shocked that anyone would take up valuable page space with declaratives about having a nice day.

I'm sitting here, genuinely amused. Someone said that 'valuable page space' is being used up by repetative declaratives (hot dang, all that paper and ink!). Others complain that it's just unnecessary for someone to be show some civility.

Who cares, really?

Mark, be a light unto yourself - not that you need me to tell you, my friend.
