margo, I remember when I took that cruise on the Sydney harbor and visited many of those coves. We went all the way from the pier in Sydney to the Pacific Ocean.

This is fascinating - I have found a picture of the hospital I was born in!! Somewhat earlier than my residency i hasten to add..http://www.ccb.org.uk/img/ccb125/military_hospital.jpg

Then for a while I lived in Surrey and went to this school

But my parents decided to go back to Devon so I lived in Newton Abbot

But went to university in London

Then worked out of London and lived in picture postcard village

Before marrying, and moving to Delhi - and going for picnics in the grounds of this tomb

and only after that did we come back to Devon, to Totnes (see above)

and inspired by Clary's beautiful post I'll try to do the same Smile

Town pic is few posts above.

So, that's where I learned to swim and on bank made my first steps with mom waiting few steps away - river Korana, the most beautiful of four rivers in my town:

Then, I went to this high school (Gymnasium Karlovac, where also famous world scientist and inventor Nikola Tesla went to school):

I love my town and love living here...although, wars are not that nice - central street in my town - gray, all windows broken, all houses "wounded"...

http://www.math.hr/links/war/1991/20.jpg

But, surprise surprise, wars stop eventually - same street:

And, most important for a town with croatian biggest and oldest brewery...Beer festival can start again Smile:

MOU, I always like to try the local beer when I travel. What's the name of the most popular/best Croatian beer? BTW, nice pictures. You're whetting my appetite for my trip; getting anxious to see your part of the world.

C.I. - most people would probably say "Ozujsko", some would say "Karlovacko", and since you were in Osijek they will probably try to persuade you that it's "Osjecko", although this one really suck Smile

clary, margo -thanks

onyxelle - actually I would really like pic of Thomasville, Georgie if you have one Wink I love small american towns, they are really cute
