Too true re Boras. He's handling J.D. Drew's contract, too. Could be "Adios, J.D." for the Braves this winter...

Depends on other team's offers and their demands...it's not that easy, and I can guarantee they're not going to sign all of them.

It's hard to keep a WS champ together. Look at the Marlins...they lost a couple guys right off the bat and missed the playoffs by a few games.

Everyday now there's an article in the NY Times re Beltran going to the Yankees. Must admit that I saw this coming. Move over, Bernie!

Why a twinkie, Region? (I admit I don't follow the AL as much as I should...)

Not so fast there, Musketeer:

Quote:
Angels may be top of Beltran's list, but Anaheim's apparently not interested
Astros set to pitch $13.5 million a year for coveted free agent

The Astros have been told that the Carlos Beltran sweepstakes are "yours to lose."

Agent Scott Boras may have told other teams similar things, but the words have impact nevertheless.

It would be fine with me if Beltran stays with Houston. I hate the idea of Steinbrenner buying anyone he decides he wants.

In the meanwhile, this Giambi story is getting interesting. The NY Times reports that NYY will want to void their contract with the former slugger...

Now I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop: Barry Bonds.

The difference in how his face looks in the two photos is enough of an indication of science at work. Doesn't even look like the same guy...

His head grew so much that he went up two hat sizes (or something like that).

That simply does not happen.

Question: Giambi fesses-up but Bonds stone-walls.
Why?

bonds needs a baker's dozen or so to pass ruth, then another 42 to be the HR king.
he's said he wants to pass ruth... his ego prolly won't allow him to retire in peace until he hits #756.

maybe giambi fess't up bcos of his health?
