Pujols is bitching that the MVP should be awarded to someone who's team makes the playoffs. I've heard sportswriters/voters say the same thing.

I disagree. MVP is an individual award...you can't always lead your team to the playoffs, there's 8 other guys on the field, and the team could suck. If a player hit .340 with 60 hr's, and played with a Gold Glove, while the next guy's team reached the playoffs, but he hit .320 with 40 hr's and is awful in the field, I don't see how he was more valuable. The guy with better numbers contributed more, whether or not the team made the playoffs.

that's crap.
the phillies (85-77) had a better record than st. louis (83-78), and missed the wildcard by a few games.
without ryan howard, they would've been a last-place team in the NL east...

i don't think there's a match out there for him.
he'll be 34 in may, he's injury-prone, and he's due another $38 million on this contract.

the sawx would be hard-pressed to replace his bat in the line-up.
he's averaged .316, 39 homers and 119 RBI in the 6 years he's been here.
no way jd drew approaches any of those numbers...

I don't agree with Big Albert.

I wish the Padres would go after Manny. There's talk that he's injury prone but he has averaged 140+ games a season, San Diego needs a big bat and his numbers are matched by few in the game. He has two years left in his contract right? If the sox pick up some of his salary, he'd be perfect there.

Tom Glavine will return either to the Mets or Braves (yea!). Decision to be made this coming weekend.

the $awx have gobbled up JD Drew & Julio Lugo.

it remains to be seen whether they can jigger a Manny trade...

Sounds like $$$ for free agents is getting nutty again. Maddux getting $10 million from the Padres.

Does he have the temperament for it?

There have been some interesting signings and trades of late...

Chance of that happening are zero. His agent already put that rumor to bed before it started.

However, I've read the Sox are in the running for Eric Gagne. If he's healthy, that could be nasty.

i don't see him spending another half season with the under-achieving astros...

so bonds is staying put for $16 mill.
he'll break aaron's record, and then slink into the backround like mcgwire...

question --
who the hell is gil meche, and why oh why is kansas city giving him $11 mill for 5 years??

Of all the crazy $$ going to free agents, $16 million for Bonds is the craziest!

Injuries limited Gagne to 14 games and eight saves in 2005 and two outings with one save this year. The right-hander had surgery in April to remove a nerve from his pitching elbow -- the same arm that required elbow-ligament replacement surgery in 1997. He then had season-ending surgery July 8 to repair a herniated disc in his lower back.

i guess that's why he only got one year!
