can't think that far ahead.
must focus on the task at hand.
must... win... tonight... schilling... ankle... daddy (who's your)... curse... reverse... cowboys... idiots...
A friend of mine just returned from a week in NYC. Said he watched one of the games at a bar near a guy who kept moronically taunting Pedro with "Who's your daddy? Who's your daddy?"
I hate people that start chants at bars. I watched game 2 at a bar and everyone starting chanting "Jeter sucks" or something, I started yelling at some people that Jeter can't hear them from 8 miles away. They stopped.
Don't forget my prediction:

Red Sox-Cardinals in the World Series and a red team wins it all.
me too
on september 9th I wrote:going out on a limb here: boston over st. louis in 7 games.
cards have home field, and all those bats.
too much for clemens, beltran & the 'stros to overcome...
I like both teams though Sox pitching is a scoatch better. I'll be rooting for Boston just 'cause I'm sick of all that whining...it's gotta stop...NOW!
If I remember correctly, I picked the Red Sox to win it all.
Panzade, on the other hand, picked the Milwaukee Brewers.
Sure I did, but that was for the 2008 season.
Stottlemyre Has Gone to the Mound For the Last Time
By Jack Curry
Mel Stottlemyre, the pitching coach who has been at Manager Joe Torre's side
since the Yankees hired him in 1996, will not return in 2005. A person who
spoke to one of Stottlemyre's colleagues said this week that Stottlemyre
would not be back for a 10th season as coach.
(rest of article)
Someone had to pay for that debacle.
I think he half-knew that George would blame him. He deserved better...
now randolph's getting on the No. 7 train, bound for flushing...
i can't picture torre managing without these guys...
Well, Mel's had a bout with cancer. And Joe's had some heart problems in the past, hasn't he? I think the fact they let Willie go to the Mets suggests that Torre's going to be in the dugout for awhile (maybe as long as he wants to be).
Back to the Astros:
Lance Berkman tore his ACL in a flag football game for charity this past week, which seems to make more urgent the signing of Carlos Beltran, whose agent, Scott Boras want a ten-year contract for his studly client. I have seen no mention of the number of zeroes required to elicit a 'yes'. The burden of accomplishing this feat falls to new GM Tim Purpura, who stepped into Gerry Hunsicker's sizeable Cole-Haans earlier in the week also.
Good luck, rookie.
Nobody's talking about Bonds and BALCO, I have noticed...
Wasn't steroids in baseball something our President promised to address?
The president also mentioned wanting to send an expedition to Mars. I wouldn't count on any federal action on either agenda item any time soon...
Getting back to Stottlemyre: Now the NY Times says he may be reconsidering quitting. But get this--the same article said that Steinbrenner wants to cut his coaches' salaries! Stottlemyre, who must be the highest paid, got $450,000 last year. Nice dough, for sure, but chump change compared to what Steinbrenner throws at his players. Amazing...
stingy steinbrenner's gotta save his pennies so he can afford senor beltran...
Si.
It's now being reported that Stottlemyre is returning next year. Never a dull moment with that team; somehow the return (or not) of coaches creates major drama...
Varitek's agent is reporting VTek wants a 5 year contract. Boras is a whore.
