Speaking of great managers, Tony LaRussa's contract is up after the season...the Red Sox should at least explore that option.

Thanks. I've rooted for the Braves for a long time, since I was a little kid. I won't say how long ago that was, but let's put it this way, they were playing in Milwaukee then.

My goal is to see them in Atlanta next year, as I've now watched them in NY, Colorado and Seattle...

A quick look back. Went to a World Series game in Atlanta and the Braves were awful. Sure it was cold but...
I envy you 'cause my team was the Senators...lol

Slappy, they should end the Bill James experiment and hire a good manager. I agree.

The Senators? First in war, first in peace, and last in the American League. You have my sympathy and respect.

Interestingly enough, I once heard Skip Caray, who grew up in St. Louis when the Browns still played there, recite this line about that team:

First in booze, first in shoes, and last in the American League.

Skip's another treasure in Atlanta.
Aye, the Senators were woeful. But the greats I saw at Griffith Stadium.

Yeah, I can't imagine LaRussa leaving St. Louis. Sounds like they're really intense fans there PLUS they really love the team. An unusual combination!

where else can a 37-year old player get a standing O after striking out in his first at bat for the team?

Certainly not in NY. They're already booing Loaiza at Yankee Stadium...

I'm still waiting for someone to name their kid Scrushy Striplin Field.

I think it's great that Chipper named his kid Shea. He who laughs last, and all that. The way those fools think they can throw him off by bleating "Laaaary" over and over when he comes to the plate...

Yeah, the Mets have gone 1-10 lately. I was hoping they would take one or two from the Marlins, but I guess not. Piazza's return hasn't exactly spurred them on.

Hell, bring back Bobby Valentine! At least he made things interesting...

wait, don't flush just yet -- they're only 1/2 game out of the wildcard.
firing the manager turned out to be just what they needed...

How about Steinbrenner putting up a fuss about the D-Rays not leaving for NY during a hurricane? Now pouting because he didn't get a forfeit.

I always suspected that he could care less about the game itself and only cares about winning, but I think this really proves it.

Go, Red Sox! And all wild-card contenders in the AL...
