Sheer nervousness, I'm sure. He rocks when the game is getting tense and one of his pitchers is in trouble. A circumstance that's been occurring, alas, fairly often thus far...

Whatever works. I find it reassuring seeing Leo and Bobby, side by side, sharing their angst...

yeah, they're overwraught with grief over having won 12 straight div titles
what's up with seattle? that was an ugly 0-5 before they finally won a game.
its early, but so far glavine looks like he finally found a comfort zone...

Mariners stood pat during the post season when indications were they needed a power hitter. We shall see how things play out, but the natives are starting to get restless. As for Glavine, I'm glad he's doing well!

hey, how 'bout that dontrelle willis?
so far, he's doing a fine impression of the red sox version of the babe:
pitching lights out -- 12 shutout innings, 12 k's.
at the plate he's 6 for 6 with a dinger, a double in 3 ribbies...

Hard to improve on a start like that! Florida looks tough thus far. Big early series this weekend: Marlins-Braves.

Boston won the first two, but the last time I checked, NYY had a big lead in Game 3. Well, if the Red Sox can take three of four, that would be excellent.
Meanwhile, my Braves shot down the high-flying Marlins this weekend. Swept 'em. Highlight had to be Jesse Garcia hitting his first dinger since 1999...

Cool news for the Red Sox! I followed the game on-line. Nice to see A-Rod hitting so badly that he went 1 for 5--and raised his batting average!
Chipper looked terrible after he fell yesterday. According to my sources, he may need to go on the DL. Given the punch (or lack of same) in the Atlanta line-up, they're gonna miss him!

Well, they've had 2 good games recently - perhaps just the Red Sox have the Yankees' numbers?

they're pitching has barely kept them afloat so far --
after the first 21 games they're hitting a combined .224.
that's totally unacceptable for a $180 million team...

The Yankees couldn't play dreadfully forever, much as many of us would love them to, because they have all that talent. Still, two wins don't prove anything. It would be great to see them flounder around again for a while. At least until Steinbrenner explodes publicly!

Uh, yea. They're a .700 ballclub right now. Winning games. TOTALLY unacceptable.

My bad. I thought region meant the sox pitching was keeping them afloat. I'll go back to my hole.

no worries, slap -- the official scorer generously gave you a fielder's choice on that one...
