TAMPA, Fla. — The FBI says a California man who says he was drunk dropped anchor on a moving cruise ship.

According to an FBI affidavit posted Monday on The Smoking Gun website, 44-year-old passenger Rick Ehlert entered a restricted area, put on work gloves and released the rear anchor on Holland America's MS Ryndam. It was heading from Costa Maya, Mexico, to Tampa.

Ehlert is in custody and faces federal charges of attempting to damage a vessel and endangering a ship's safe navigation. The ship was not damaged Saturday. But the FBI says the anchor could have punctured the ship and caused it to sink or severely flood.

The FBI says Ehlert acknowledged releasing the anchor and throwing a life buoy overboard.

The affidavit says Ehlert explained that the anchor system was similar to that on his 50-foot boat.

AFP) - After billions of years the Sun finally has an owner -- a woman from Spain's soggy region of Galicia said Friday she had registered the star at a local notary public as being her property.

Angeles Duran, 49, told the online edition of daily El Mundo she took the step in September after reading about an American man who had registered himself as the owner of the moon and most planets in our solar system.

There is an international agreement which states that no country may claim ownership of a planet or star, but it says nothing about individuals, she added.

"There was no snag, I backed my claim legally, I am not stupid, I know the law. I did it but anyone else could have done it, it simply occurred to me first."

Apparently, it has become such a problem that it warrants it's own wiki entry...

I'm finding this hard to believe! I think the driver is lying to cover up the accident.

US drunken driving suspect acquitted after drinking-to-keep-warm defence
The Associated Press

JACKSON, Mo. - A man has been acquitted of drunken driving after claiming that he consumed alcohol to keep warm after — but not before — he lost control of his vehicle on an icy road.

Thomas Drummond told a court that he had been driving home after a night out with friends last February when his vehicle veered off the slick highway and into a culvert. Drummond says he was not intoxicated while driving, but that he was by the time emergency workers arrived more than two hours later.

The Southeast Missourian reports a jury acquitted Drummond last week.

Defence attorney Stephen Wilson says it was a set of facts you don't see every day.

Isn't that a complete falsehood according to medical science?

How cold could it be in February, in Jackson, Mo?

Driving in to work, I was third in a line of five cars. It did not seem likely a deer would come at a dead run from a field, to plunge into the traffic, to get on the other side. My truck smacked it and sent it rolling in the ditch to my left. I stopped long enough to see it jump to its feet and trot away. Later, I examined my truck. Just a bent license plate to show from the incident. All is well.
