Too many people ignore the importance of wearing life vests. Either they overestimate their owning swimming skills or they too damn blind to the chances of getting an accident.

Often the influence of booze and/or stupid pride is the key factor in this type of accidental death.

But - as someone said in a comment to the article, in this case a life vest would have done no good, given that his foot was caught and the crab pots are extremely heavy.

I dunno if those guys booze while they're out there. I'll buy that they (some) do that once they get home.
