We're currently harboring a momma cat and her SEVEN 19 day old babies. She came to our back door to have 'em - we've since shut down our feral-cat-feeding operation and concentrated on these EIGHT visitors who have taken over Cheryl's office. They are a TRIP!!! We're going to try to get 'em all homes...
Check 'em out...

It's a lot to keep up with, but we couldn't just leave 'em to the mercy of some of the critters roamin around out there. Ain't they adorable?

@snood,
Looking at them, it is hard to believe they have such evil intentions towards curtains and furniture.

@snood,
You & Cheryl are so obviously the best, Snood!
The kindest, most compassionate story I've heard today.
Good on you!

Others could, but you couldn't.
Let me thank you on behalf of that mother cat & her kittens.
And yes they are absolutely adorable! Very Happy
(It might be a little hard when you have to say your goodbyes.)

Snood, You and your wife did a wonderful thing. The kitties are beyond cute. Enjoy them while you've got them. I'm sure you'll find them good homes.

@snood,
You're doing an additional service by socializing them so they become adoptable. We found out the hard way that unsocialized feral cats/kittens are pretty much impossible to place in homes.

Good on you!

And yes, they're adorable. (The SEVEN kittens makes my heart skip a beat though -- we're trying to keep a feral cat population under control around here via spaying and neutering and have so far gotten four out of seven but the original mom cat is awol and we're afraid she's having kittens somewhere -- the idea of having seven more cats to deal with after all this effort to get just four... oy...)

As I was going to St Ives
I met a man with seven wives
Each wife had seven sacks
Each sack had seven cats
Each cat had seven kits
Kits, cats, sacks, wives
How many were going to St Ives?

@snood,
I want the one that looks brownish and greyish. There isn't a good picture of him. Could you send him my way?

@Linkat,
lol

but wish you could - so far, only have two tentative takers...

I think the one you're talking about is the one I nicknamed " 'lil' because he/she is the runt of the pack. But they're all healthy. I'll keep posting pics as they get more well defined features and REALLY get hard to keep up with! Shocked

@snood,
I'm very sympathetic (and go into allergic/asthma tharn with some cats, including those we used to have). I hope you can place them, keep photographing.... they are all darlings. (This drives me nuts, I'd love to have a cat).

@snood,
Perhaps in a few weeks you could ship a marmalade north in a box (with air holes!)

Kidding, of course, but they sure are cute.

@Tai Chi,
Those little marmalade sweeties are ... sweet.

I wish I could admire them close up (after I've had my antihistamine of course).

Good work - Snood and Cheryl!

Snood & Cheryl, I would adopt one or two but I'm sure you don't live in Texas. I've been watching the newspapers and shelters for the past month or so for a 10 wk. short hair kitten but no luck - would you believe? They say it isn't the "season" yet. When I was a little we dopey kids used to bring home wild strays. You grasp them by the neck 'rough' and pet them until you can turn them over and scratch the underside of their necks. Voila, tame!

I rescued a big goose who had escaped his fence (I was 32 then) and chased him - he's all the while turning and hissing - until he got trapped in some brambles. Picking him up he was hissing like crazy but he didn't hurt me, so I carried that thing with such a long neck home. Every time a car would drive by he'd start moving around, but when I scratched his neck he'd settle down. His owner happened by and when she attempted to take him from me he began pecking at her head, tearing out a bunch of pink curlers.

@snood,
Cutecutecute!!

Hey Snood, I forget, but are you in Texas? In terms of maybe actually being able to get a cat to Pemerson? (I remember "San Antone" in relation to you but can't remember if it's someplace you've been or if it's where you are now, or if I'm thinking of someone else entirely...!)
