Who or what is this god you keep going on about and even providing him, or her, with emotions?

We atheists are never going to make any headway whilst you bang on about god/s. It's make-up. A bit like a posh restaurant is got up to look as little like a trough as possible and a steak entrcote not thought of a slice off a haunch.

You're flopping about in the shallow end Krumpie. Year after ******* year. Don't you ever think of trying another tune. It's like listening to chop-sticks being played over and over and over on an out of tune piano by a 5 year old.

We are trying to bring in sex with the brakes off aren't we? Is anybody here not trying to bring in sex with the brakes off?

I take it, Romeo, that you are not one of us and do not want to introduce sex with the brakes off. The brakes are being released slowly. I have observed the process over many years. At the start, or where I came in, a movie actress had to have at least one foot on the ground before she might be kissed. In the flash of a flying life--lo and behold!!!

The direction is obvious. The brakes are being gently let off. There was a programme on Ch 4 last night about dogging. And Newsnight specialises in clinical versions. My version is not suitable for a family audience.

A few weeks ago there was a News broadcast at 6 o'clock in which the first 20 minutes of the 30 was about dick swishing.

I saw an old Irishman interviewed. He was fairly famous for something. He was asked what he thought about the Permissive Society, which I remember very well, and he shook his head wistfully and said dolefully that it had come too late for him. His eyes looked to the distant horizon of blue misty hills and became unfocussed.

Yup. Though I was a bit slower to realize that. Sometimes giving someone the benefit of the doubt works out, sometimes it doesn't.

Agreed. That's my policy starting today.

I was wondering if those people who defend religion(s) consider all the victims of them, such as victims of child abuse (physical, mental, emotional), the soldiers who are sent to war over them, the civilians in the war zones, the children who die from something as easily treatable as appendicitis because their parents believe that prayer works better than modern medicine, the women who are beaten and oppressed because of the harsh patriarchal structure of the religion, the potential Nobel Prize winners who are derailed at an early age because they are told that magic works better than science, etc etc ad nauseum.

It has been explained many times that this thread was not started to argue religion, but as a meeting place for atheists. There must be ten dozen argument threads running or dormant on a2k. But the trollish nature of certain deists and agnostics makes them want to trash this one. I am in agreement with setanta on this and I am off of here until the trolls have run the course.
