Well of course Clarke would say that wouldn't he, it's what all atheists say..Smile

WIKI- In 2000, Clarke told the Sri Lankan newspaper, The Island, "I don't believe in God or an afterlife."
He was quoted in Popular Science in 2004 as saying of religion "Most malevolent and persistent of all mind viruses. We should get rid of it as quick as we can"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_C._Clarke

And Clarke liked young boys and girls- "Once they have reached the age of puberty, then it is OK," Mr Clarke was quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror.
"If the kids enjoy it and don't mind it doesn't do any harm … there is a hysteria about the whole thing in the West."

I would be willing to bet that some atheist vote that way but I think atheist are like any other group of people, They are all different.

I consider myself to be a militant atheist. As such, my atheism is complete with no shred of doubt. The idea of any deity is ludicrous. Religion is a crutch for cowards unable to come to terms with the unlikelihood of their existence. I can add that the theists I have encountered on able2know are among the most ridiculous pack of pathetic, ignorant, scum sucking, dipshit, fuckwit cocksuckers I've ever had the misfortune to encounter.

Politically, I place myself to the left of centre. I make that statement in the context of the Australian political system. In US, I would be considered a rabid lefty, but in Australia, I'm definitely on the moderate side. But since I consider conservatives to be selfish scum of the earth, there's no way I could be considered to be atheist and conservative.

The people i have known who describe themselves as atheists have usually been liberals (small "i"), which is to say, centrist or somewhat left of center. The militant, in your face atheists i have known were all very much left of center. But it is idiotic (meaning typical of RL) to suggest any political connection with atheism. The most virulent and angry atheist i ever met, who was a good friend of mine for nothing to do with being an atheist, was a social and political conservative and an admirer of George Bush. He reserved his special venom for "men of the cloth."

Wilso, you should know that "Reasoning Logic" has never displayed a capacity for logic; his "reasoning" seems to be a product of the last goofy video he watched on youtube. An intelligent man is wasting his time if he is attempting to converse with RL.

You found me connecting politics with atheism in the below quote?

I thought that I was suggesting that atheists are all different and can have different views about many things. Maybe you need glasses? Did you even read the article that I was referring to?

@Romeo Fabulini,
One might expect, Romeo, given the polarities herein, the strength of which might be gauged by the indignations, impatiences and invectives being tossed about, that if an atheist culture arises the Christian virtues will be vices and the vices virtues and that the prevailing conduct and tastes will be the opposite of those which have been dispensed with. It is hardly worth saying that irony and burlesque will be lost in the deluge.

That pic implies that the guy who's praying is wasting his time, it reminds me of something about 6 years ago when the boss of a military history website told us- "Sorry but I won't be able to devote as much of my time to the website as before because my wife's seriously ill needing a heart-lung transplant and I'm pre-occupied with looking after her right now".

So I sent him an email saying "I know a few Christian groups, would you like me to ask them to pray for her?", but he replied "Thanks but no thanks, she's got lots of people around her looking after her". (whatever that meant)

So I dropped the idea. (I never did know how things turned out for her)
Two questions arise-
1- Was he a lousy hub for refusing prayers for her?
2- Should I have asked the groups to pray for her anyway without his permission?

@Romeo Fabulini,
Don't you think Romeo that voting down and ignoring are just signs that people are frightened of having their certainties undermined?
