Neither..Smile
He's simply "trying on" atheism in the same way you'd try on a new coat to see if it fits comfortably. He might decide to ditch atheism in the future for all we know.
I myself tried being an atheist in my younger days but it only lasted a very short while because I felt very uncomfortable and stoopid because I just couldn't dismiss the entire nation of Israel's and the Roman army garrison's eyewitness accounts of Jesus..Smile

@Romeo Fabulini,
Those "eyewitness accounts" amount to a multi generational game of Chinese whispers. The fact that you place any value in them is proof you're a stupid halfwit.

Jeez...I never read the books by the Roman army garrison talking about eyewitness accounts of Jesus.

Can you offer the name of a few...I'd like to read 'em?

Wait a minute Jack, in one breath atheists say the Bible is full of contradictions, then in their next breath they say its been edited and prettied up over the centuries to make it look good.
Make up your minds huh?..Smile

Think 'politics' mate-
When christianity began snowballing in popularity after Jesus's execution, the snooty Jewish priests and the posturing Romans said "Oops better not let on it was us who killed him, quick shred all the documents implicating us or we'll have a Jesusgate scandal on our hands.
Let's never mention his name and airbrush him out of history, and start hassling christians, then people will soon quickly forget about him"..
Nevertheless 27 books did slip through the net and get published as the New Testament....Wink

Jesus said- "My words will never pass away" (Matt 24:35)

How the Bible was written (according to atheists)..Smile

MEDIEVAL ABBOT - "Father Batholomew, I want you to translate these ancient scriptures into english, take them to your room and spend the next 5 years on the task, I'll have wine and hot food sent in to you every day to ensure your comfort"
BART - "Thank you Abbot" (Abbot exits)
BART'S MATE - "Hey man, why didn't you tell him you can hardly read and write?"
BART - "Not me chum, I know when I'm on to a good thing, i'll make it up as i go along"..

I see. So you are telling me those books were written by members of the Roman army.

No wonder there is so much mythology in them! Wink

Think it through mate-
The Roman soldiers were gagged from mentioning Jesus, so writing a book about him would have been a court-martial offence!
However, Paul (a Roman civilian) wrote 14 of the 27 books in the New Testament although he got in hot water for it..Smile

That could be, Mate...

...but we are talking about the "Roman army garrison's eyewitness accounts of Jesus."

Remember?

So what Paul wrote...or Peter...or Matthew...or anyone else...

...does not impact on your suggestion that we have "eyewitness accounts" from the Roman garrison.

So...where are they?

Or are going to withdraw that assertion because it is unsustainable?

I never withdraw anything mate, I'm not a catholic..Wink
And I never said the garrison wrote anything!
Like I said, when Christianity began snowballing in popularity the Romans tried to play down the fact that they'd let the Jewish priests talk them into killing Jesus, so no wonder no soldiers wrote a book about him or they'd have ended their military career slopping out the latrines in the Colosseum.
Incidentally Jesus cured a Roman centurion's servant (Matt 8:5) but not even he dare go round saying Jesus rocks, or he'd have been busted to buck private.
