@BillRM,
it shouldnt be about believing in the bible literally. the bible could have been just a story. some of it may be true, nobody will ever know until death. what we do know is that it has always been sacred. why would this be, if it does not contain something important? politics and life should be about being smart enough to read the bible and take out all the messages it metaphorically shows us and be able to apply them to real life antics. todays politics is truly a joke compared to what the bible truly stands for. anybody, even an aethiest is capable of having the will to be smart enough to respect the fact that there was a man who sacrificed himself for the sake of humanity. even if he was crazy, and he really didnt know what he was talking about; he did, because what he was talking about was just treating everyone else as an equal and not undermining anybody because they are less than you because not everyone is born with the same talents or abilities. it is ignorant to disbelieve in the messages jesus sent. if politics was reallllly about the believing in God, then it would reallly be about the messages jesus sent. and if this was stressed all over the world, there would be "heaven" on earth, rather than the "hell" it is now. politics is a joke, religion is a joke(if you ask me, because all it does is cause disagreement, which causes hatred). we are all just humans and it is just right to respect everyone and everything for the good it or they are capable of having. it is ignorant to not.
i think a couple of evil people just created religion one day because if there was no beliefs to disagree on, eternal satisfaction would be easier to come by. theres no such thing as eternal satisfaction and according to the bible, you will only get it when you die.
