@CowDoc,
Fbaezer did not, alas, come back after the Wild Card games. Ddjj62 has the Vikings vs the Ravens in the Super Bowl...which he says will end in a tie.

Thanks for putting the scorecard together!

Good Sunday to yall.
The 1st game today could be the best matchup of the weekend: Cowboys @ Vikings. Favre and his mates have had a couple of weeks off after stumbling a bit at the end of the regular season. A key, perhaps, could be the Vikings running game. Adrian Peterson has had only 3 100-yd games and has fumbled something like 6 times.
Dallas is peaking, outscoring their opponents 99-31 in the last 4 games.

18 of us have the Vikings vs 12 for the Cowboys. The ESPN experts split 6-2 in favor of Dallas.

In the late game, only Seed, Ddjj62, Cyclo and JPB have the Jets over the Chargers. The ESPN guys are unanimous in picking San Diego.

@realjohnboy,
I believe Peterson's been fumbliest in cold-weather games. I'd have to check that to be sure. I'm very very glad this game is going to be in a dome, at any rate.

I think Jared Allen's gonna be big. Love that guy.

@realjohnboy,
I just love the Brett-Rice connection.

Also love how Peterson is handed the ball, a bunch of guys are grabbing him and you're like "aw, only about 3 yards on that one," then you realize that he's not actually DOWN, and that he's still going, and as you realize that, he's STILL not down, and somehow it's a 12-yard run.

Finished the rest of the spreadsheet, and didn't have next week's picks for djjd or fbeazer. Did I miss them somewhere in the thread?

okay let's look at this logically

saints have, like, magic powers (miracles) and have god on their side, so it's pretty obvious they can beat cardinals, now saint francis of assisi might be sympathetic, but that's probably not enough, so the saints win

it's a given colts are bigger than ravens, but they're also just young horses, the ravens can swoop around them, peck their eyes out and the colts are done, so the ravens win

this is the tricky one, both tough customers and the cowboys have guns however vikings are probably tougher than cowboys in my estimation, and they're playing in the cold which gives vikings the advantage, coming as they do from cold climates, so vikings win

the last one is obvious, the jets win, fly in strafe the field, soften up the chargers, a few missile strikes to cut off their power supply, a charger is useless without it's power supply, then drop a bomb or too, so jets win

on to the next round

we know the saints have magic (miracles) and god on their side, but the vikings have gods on their side, it's gonna be a pigskin ragnarok, vikings win

hmm, ravens against jets, both can fly and the jets have all the weapons, but they don't have sully, a few ravens sacrifice themselves in the engines, jets crash, armaments explode, take a few other jets with them, ravens win

this last one is tough, odin had two ravens, so he's likely to favour his buddies and help them, he is however the main norse god, and with out the support of the vikings (aka belief) he's sunk, so who wins

nobody, the first ever superbowl to end in a tie

@sozobe,
(See what I meant about Allen?)

(OK I'll shut up, too much exulting this early in the game is bad karma.)

@djjd62,
I was actually wondering if you had finally picked a Super Bowl winner. From a literary standpoint, however, the first Super Bowl to end in a tie came in Tom Clancy's book when terrorists detonated a nuclear weapon at Mile High Stadium in Denver. That happened, as I recall, in "The Sum of All Fears". I put you down on the sheet as listing no winner in the final game, anyway.

3 fumbles by Tony, 2 lost.

(Do you see, Cowdoc, what I go through in running this regarding players here? No wonder my hair is thinner and grayer).

@realjohnboy,
I know the feeling. I run a charity fund-raising fantasy league out here. It can be occasionally challenging.

The Cowboys No 43 looked like he was escorting Rice to the altar rails.

Yaknow, I don't know why I picked them. I just got a gut feeling about this game. And I've watched the chargers blow it plenty of times.

Doesn't seem to be hurting them much, Cowboys can't seem to get a first down

@realjohnboy,
There have been some non-calls though, one holding on Percy Harvin (as in, Harvin was held and it wasn't called, not that he did it), and Brett got nailed after a play was whistled dead, no call.

Worried about Ray Edwards...
