There is no Wikipedia page for Amanda Knox. There is a page for the "Murder of Meredith Kercher," but Knox supporters claim it's chock-full of misinformation and bias. And after a well-placed letter caught the eye of Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, the article-editing minions and Wales himself are taking a fine-tooth comb to the entry.
Steve Shay at West Seattle Herald reports today that Wales has opened up discussion on the accuracy of the Kercher murder page after he received a letter from the folks at the pro-Knox blog
www.injusticeinperugia.org.
The letter argues that several facts are misrepresented on the Wiki page and that it draws too heavily on British tabloids that are, well, British tabloids. The letter's authors also say that physical evidence is ignored and facts are wrong.
There is interesting news on the "planted DNA on the knife and bra clasp" front as well. Nothing in English yet. But it should be worth looking for a new entry from Frank in coming hours over on Perugia Shock.
Since there is no report in English so far, I'll try to relay what I know.
----
First, the contaminated bra clasp that was claimed to have Raffaele's DNA (but quite obviously didn't):
The bra clasp was stored right next to the spot where the Italian police erased everyone's hard drives.
When it was removed for testing, it was found that the conditions of storage were such that the entire bra clasp had rusted into powder, and no second test was possible.
----
Second, the knife that was said to be the murder weapon and said to have DNA from both Amanda and Meredith (despite the fact that the knife was quite clearly not shaped like the murder weapon and quite clearly had no DNA from Meredith):
No DNA whatsoever was found on the knife. Unsure if that means there was no DNA from Amanda either, or whether they only looked on the blade since Amanda's DNA on the handle was not a relevant issue.
If it turns out that there is now no DNA from Amanda on the handle, that makes it probable that all the results of the first DNA tests were intentionally forged.
If it was just a matter of only looking at the blade and finding no DNA, that is mere confirmation of what we already know -- never was Meredith's DNA on it to begin with.
