Because of his chronic, incorrigible, caustic rudeness to just about everyone.
I don 't believe that self-restraint is within his ability; maybe he has a variant of Tourette's syndrome.
I rather enjoyed his historical presentations, but I grew weary
of reading not only his endless ad hominem acrimony to myself,
but constantly against almost all of the other posters on the forum. Eventually, enuf is enuf.

Another possible approach to the situation is to confront him with his infractions, seriatim,
but that can grow tiresome. Its not my job. I don 't get paid for this.

Of course, when David calls those who disagree with him about his gun obsession cowards and haters of freedom, and describes them as being on their knees begging for their lives, he is just being sweetness and light.

And is there a corresponding Democrat "self descriptor" (for want of a better term)?

No, the Democratic Party has never come up with a snappy acronym (except perhaps for the DFL in Minnesota) like the Republicans have with "GOP."

Well in that case, let me assure you that it was a very interesting & informative post which you missed. There were a couple more, as well.

Thanks, Joe. It didn't sound like it but I wondered if perhaps there was some rather more "obscure" one I'd missed.

I am not going to ask you what the "DFL" stands for. Wink

In that case, why don't you take a look at Glenn Beck at YouTube and decide for yourself? Here's a fairly representative example of his rhetoric:

Feeling the love for him already?

Actually, this isn't representative of him. I've sometimes listened to Beck for hundreds of hours over many months without him becoming angry once, talking about politics, sports, religion, and his family. If Thomas knows what he's talking about, then he's being dishonest by presenting this as typical.

@Brandon9000,
I disagree. But I do not intend to argue my case on this point. This is MsOlga's thread, and she has made clear she wants it to be about information rather than debate. Instead, may I suggest you go to YouTube or Fox News yourself and select a clip for MsOlga that you consider more typical of Glenn Beck's substance and style?

Fascinatin', Joe. Shades of the Grange ! ! !

That is exactly the kind of alliance which resulted in the CCF in Canada, which formed the first Socialist government in North America. They were eventually torpedoed by the Tories who tarred them with the commie brush, but they rose again as the New Democratic Party.

I'm actually talking about his radio show, which I listened to every day for years, although not recently. He talked about numerous subjects and basically never showed any temper whatsoever. I'm particularly not talking about isolated moments that people, many of whom are probably political opponents, choose to upload to YouTube.

That someone who holds a divergent political opinion uploads something to u-tube which is embarrassing to Beck because of a display of temper, or because of the expression of intemperate ideas does not alter that Beck is responsible for his behavior and what he says. If Beck never said anything of a questionable nature, and if he governed his temper effectively, his political opponents would have nothing to upload.

I can only say that I listened to his radio show for years and never heard him angry that I can remember.

(I know I should have been paying more attention, but ...) could someone explain this "Tea Baggery" concept, in not too much length, please? I realize it's disgruntled conservative folk, but what else does a person need to know? Who are the Tea Baggers & what are they trying to achieve?

Thank you

OK. We'll put it in the too hard basket.
I see a number of you have looked .. & I guess, decided for whatever reason, not to respond.
Not to worry.
