@spendius,
Well, you should only list 12 then. That will certainly help Tico...

Clubber's picks:
Chicago
Indy
Tenn
NYG
Wash
Bal
Oakland
Cincy
Buff
New Orleans
Denver
SF
Pitt
Minn (24-17)

Tomorrow night the band U2 is coming to town. Quite a big deal, evidentally.
Rumor has it that it won't be a bust, but ticket sales are lower than expected. There is quite an advertising blitz going on.
Andy/Clubber mentioned that he won't be going. Partially due to the price (up to $250) but mainly because he finds live concerts too loud and crowded.
One of his coworkers quipped that the real reason is because he can't be the center of attention at other group's shows.

Chicago -- The party's over, Motown.
Indianapolis -- Peyton is going to air it out.
Jacksonville -- Why not?
Kansas City -- Automatic.
Tampa Bay -- As if losing to the Lions wasn't bad enough.
New England -- Automatic.
Houston -- But I wouldn't be shocked if Oakland won.
Cincinnati -- They play Cleveland. 'Nuff said.
Miami -- This could be a very ugly game.
New Orleans -- Automatic, but a good bet nonetheless.
Dallas -- Reluctantly.
San Francisco -- Should be a walk-over.
Pittsburgh -- Steelers are too tough, too physical.

Green Bay -- The Pack are high for this one.

@spendius,
What do these four regional zones mean? Is there no league table for the 32 teams? How are the Superbowl final teams arrived at?

The NFL is divided into the American Conference and National Conference with each conference having four division - North - South - East - West with four teams in each division. How the teams are assigned to the divisions I don't have a clue but it certainly has nothing to do with what part of the country they are based.

Any how during the year, the highest ranking team in each Division makes the playoffs plus the next two teams in each conference which are wildcards. These all play each other to produce a Conference champion. The two conference champions play each other in the Super Bowl to produce the national champion.

(That's a truely amateur explanation and I'm sure the 'pros' here will correct me on at least some of it.)

@Foxfyre,
Thanks Foxy. I'll think about that. How is the fixture list compiled?

In our Premier League we have 20 teams. They play each other home and away.

3 points for a win and 1 for a draw. The team with the highest number of points after the 38 matches are completed are the champs. And after each week we can see who is where.

What is the meaning of an NFL match between two teams not in the same non-geographical zone?

@spendius,
I am sure, Spendius, that your questions are based on curiosity about the NFL's rules on rankings. But none of that figures in too much in Week #4.
I am confident that no one here is focusing on Week #18.
We can try to answer your questions but few of us are too smart about football.
Pick the games in Week #4 and hope you do better than the diabolical Tico.

No difference in the short term, but it may influence a tie-breaker at the end of
the season.

Doesn't it also factor into who are the wild card selections for the playoffs?

The NFL is made of 2 Conferences with 4 divisions of 4 teams (32 teams).

With in a division, you play each opponent twice, once at home and once away. The remainder of the games are inter divisional or lately, inter conference. I am not exactly sure what process is used to determine match ups.

Each division has a winner and there are wild card teams that get into the playoffs where they are ranked by winning record. Best team gets home field throughout the playoffs. Each conference decides a winner and they face each other in the superbowl.

The conferences are a merger between the old American Football League and the National Football League.

Final tally is a Wins vs Loss record.
