Not as much as was expected. At my house, we got one shower out of it, but that saved a couple of my trees.

I am the eventual winner of this contest my dear. I have a system. I only fear Tico. The others are pace setters and lucky shots.

I was only joking about the significance of Venus being in conjunction with Uranus. It was a metaphor for mysterious forces.

I will make my picks and wow all of you with my prognisticating abilities tomorrow.

After I have done the proper research, consulted with the wise ones, and studied all of the possibilities.

Translation...after I listen to the radio, talk to my little sister, and rolled the dice.

I do so badly by taking John's list and running down it immediately, choosing teams on impulse.

There was a trip to Chester races from the pub on Saturday and the lady who is renowed for vacuity was the only one who returned ahead after an afternoon of surprises.

She had backed Spinning Spirit (16-1), Lilyannabanana (10-1) and Peace and Glory (33-1). All on impulse. Speculations on her impulses are uncalled for and will be treated with disdain.

It just ended, EhBeth. 4-1 in favor of demolition. 2 members were absent and 2 others recused themselves due to their employment with our neighbor, UVA.
There was a long and thoughtful discussion, starting with the chairman of the BAR stating that a request for a demo permit is the hardest thing that he faces. The other members nodded somberly.
I appreciate that taking down a 63 year old building gives pause and should not be taken lightly. Even if it is an architecturally insignificant building. It has a story to tell about commerce along Main Street from a long ago time. Offsetting that, though, according to one of the BAR members, is the notion that this building should end up being the "placeholder," preserved only because other buildings in the area had been torn down or had burnt down.
An allusion was made to whether Dave Mathews (a rock band) may or may not have gotten their start in the club that once occupied the basement. That thought was not pursued.
Trust me on this. This was a good decision.

Perhaps somewhere, in a corridor, there could be photos of the building's "glorious past". I'm a fan of those little hidden treats in buildings.
