@panzade,
I would not say, Pan, I am doing so well as a developer. I feel I am beating my head against a brick wall sometimes. We had financing lined up with an outfit called Lehman Brothers but then, a year ago today, their phones were disconnected. That set us back, big-time.
UVA is on the west end of Main St. Downtown is a mile to the east. In between is a desolate area with mostly abandoned used car lots. My properties are adjacent to UVA's on the west. We are attempting to brand the area as "Mid-town" with mixed use commercial, office and residential. It will happen, but it is 2-steps forward, 1-step back.

@realjohnboy,
Thanks for the update. Old cities like C-Ville have very strong Arch Boards...

@panzade,
Rj and associates have been designing smartly but boards and delays hand hold - admittedly sometimes for the better, sometimes not. The Lehman thing, horrible luck.

@ossobuco,
To add, I've never been on a design board though I've appeared before many. My business partner was on one and quit in a rage at stupidity. My husband was on a community board and that went fairly well at the time.

Ah, Buffalo leading - I may have to pay attention.

@panzade,
To finish the story, Pan and Osso. We are ready to roll across the street on the 6-story building (The Roof) and are starting the process across the street where a 9-story hotel might go (SycHouse).
We go before the BAR to ask for a demolition permit for the 2-story SycHouse building put up in 1945. Is it architecturally significant? I don't think so, unlike the buildings opposite the train station a few blocks away.
We broached this subject with the BAR a year ago and my architect was wary about asking for a vote. One member waxed poetic about the hardware store that was once there, and how he spent many a Saturday morning in the place. A couple of others favored facade-ism. Keep the street facing facade Main St but tear down whatever is behind it. Other members derided that as Disneyesque. We backed off.
The board now consists of different members. I think we are okay, but there will be some folks leaving to be replaced but we don't know by whom.

@realjohnboy,
Oy.
As you know, I'd like you and your arch't to have control of the facade, trust your judgement. Damn, I'd like to play with it as a design school problem - assuming I knew much more than I do or want to. And as I said, I like your architect. Anyway, no disney (don't get me going) but some kind of fit would be good. My idea of 'fit' may have more range than others'. Anyway, break a leg (while not breaking legs).

@realjohnboy,
I remember the hardware store but it didn't seem to be significant in terms of the history of C-Ville

Horrible call in the Raiders game. Zebras stole a TD away from the rook Murphy. Clear possession all the way to the ground.

Yeah, that was horrible.

The Raiders actually look decent tonight (at least their running game does).

@Ticomaya,
New England outplayed Buffalo in almost all categories but without that call, Buffalo wins. And it was a terrible call.

The second game almost as wild.

I WAS ROBBED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buffalo had the game locked up.
All they had to do was take a knee, bring it out to the 20, and run out the clock.
But no, their kick returner decided to try and show off, and blew it.

And here I thought I was going to look like a genius for picking Buffalo over NE.
But my Chargers won, so that helped.
I didnt see that game, I had to go to bed because I was supposed to work today.
But that doesnt look like its going to happen (my turbo blew).
