This buying spree has had little effect on me.

My modest collection of firearms and ammo required to feed them was purchased long before the campaign, election and inauguration.
About 2 months ago, I did trade off a bunch of AR parts for a Marlin 1895G big bore lever action rifle. AR parts have gone way up in value.
The Marlin is currently having some custom modifications done to it Cool

Well, the concept is that the more future victims who r well armed,
the more nice surprizes violent predators (human or not) will get.
That is good for those of us who cheer for the victims.

(I also found, when first I armed myself, that it added to my personal tranquility,
tho I did not actually need it, until many decades later.)

I just want msolga to explain how humongous spending of tax payer dollars by Obama is going to improve things, so people are less scared.

@msolga,

That's my point. Why are you commenting on gun sales here in the states when you live in Oz?

@msolga,

There are many, many reasons for gun ownership and very few of them have to do with anyone being scared.

@gungasnake,
Post # 1

Quote:

...Local firearms dealers said they haven’t been able to keep that type of firearm on the shelves for months. Scott Hoffman said that since November he hasn’t been able to immediately fill orders for items considered personal weapons. He’s back-ordered in certain kinds of ammunition, too.

“Gun sales have at least doubled,” said the longtime owner of Hoffman’s Gun Center on the Berlin Turnpike. “Business is up at least 50 percent and that’s in a bad economy. It shows you how scared people are.” .....

@msolga,

Most Americans are unsure and possibly afraid of what Obama is doing and how it will effect day-to-day life here in the states.

It's best to plan for the worst scenario and hope for the best.

@msolga,

Obama is already causing growing unemployment and this could be followed by hyper inflation and then civil unrest.
Add in a big hurricane or two and you have a situation were citizens can't rely on Obama or their government for help...
thinking out loud... we citizens can't rely on Obama or our government for help today.

Australians have the image of being rugged and robust;
inconsistent with the docility of gun control.
Crocodile Dundee woud not approve.

@msolga,

Do you understand what civil unrest means?
Did you not see or read what happened after Katrina hit the Gulf coast?
Have you read about life in south Florida after Andrew?
What about the LA riots?

Citizens will be forced to fend for and protect themselves.

Another fly in the ointment is that Obama just gave these guys a free pass to do what they want...

How are things working out in Oz now that gun ownership has been severly restricted?
Are you crime free now?
