@DontTreadOnMe,
Well, also the forest.. and the Pacific, and the light, and a few other things..

That was a bit of a tease, in that I'm not into smoking.. but I'm not against marijuana and the raising and enjoyment thereof.

OK, I give up. I've looked in four of her books to no avail, and online. I think the fresh cooked lobster meat was sauteed quickly in a sauce that was made with garlic, butter, and dry white wine, reduced. More of a routine sauce then I mentioned earlier.

Do people in politics eat garlic?

@ossobuco,

six half egg shells of water

How do you get a half of an egg shell. No matter how I crack them I can't do that. One half is always bigger than the other.

@spendius,
Should I use the small half or the big half?

@spendius,
I knew I'd pull you into this..

I use the bigger portion of the remaining egg shell.. just one 'half shell' for all the eggs. The choice doesn't matter very much.

@ossobuco,
I'm a sucker osso. A good cook is worth her weight in gold. You can shut the lights for the other stuff if necessary.

@DontTreadOnMe,
Ever been to The Fish Company on Los Alamitos Blvd. and Katella, right off the 605? Great bouillabaisse and always fresh with a fish market at the entrance foyer to take some home with you. I go there to pick up Ahi if I can't make it down to Santa Monica Seafood in Costa Mesa.

@ossobuco,
I went and ordered one of the new copies -- I knew this thread would eventually cost me some money. Ah, heck -- it's nearly 5 PM here and I haven't started dinner. Freezer time!

@Lightwizard,
Her books are interesting, some more than others, for the illustrations.
She runs/ran the Badia a Coltabuono, which I could tell you more about if my husband and I hadn't been arguing plus it being ten in the morning when we drove by. We were arguing - i.e., being silent - about my being snotty when the Banco de something in Greve wouldn't take our travelers checks since I'd already signed them on the bottom. What? I split a delicately mild gut to the well suited banker, perhaps a phrase or two, and my husband then yammered (a2k word via Izzie) at me re my lack of courtesy on the way to the Fiat Panda, which was my turn to drive, and with which I lurched out of the Greve town square. Thus we passed the Badia with neither of us caring. (This passed.)

@ossobuco,
Actually it passed in Villa a Seste, where we parked the Panda by a phone booth, and went exploring. A hundred year old woman cheerfully made us cappucini and life became whole again.

@DontTreadOnMe,
dtom, I've had many ital cook books.. probably hundreds.

talk to me before you buy. The odd few are near priceless. But never mind that, another bunch are useful.

No, I wouldn't pick the L de'Medici book first - but that's from a cooking pov. As collector's items in the future, well... rolls eyes, which doesn't mean no.
