Love you back, JL. Oh, grins, and Luchi too, though she and I haven't met. Luchi gets this whole scenario re vision. As you do, with your friend with rp. But Luchi was apparently ok with you meeting me at the airport, years ago, so I immediately regarded her well - well, you both well.
Are you two off in the hills?

Yeh, in these months I wear dark glasses over dark glasses with a hat.
But I'm still a happy kid re the December surgery. Vision is glorious.
Are you sporting rhinestone shades or cheap sunglasses?
Either way, I too am glad your vision is dynamite!

Just came back from the semi annual check eyes appointment - it went terrifically:
Left eye, which we're (dr and I) both calling the interesting one, and I said, the provocative one, like Granny Goose, a reference you'll only get if you are aware of that company's old potato chip ads - did better on the eye chart today. That's the one with rp, traumatic glaucoma, and blepharitis du jour. (Right eye only has long time rp). It's alway heartening to know that left eye's vision can swing back to 'somewhat better'; the blepharitis, a chronic thing, can be controlled. (I need to keep doing what I'm doing, elaborated on other posts.) It's also six months past surgery in that eye and the lid problem may be incrementally better (or not); today it was better to the doc and I see his point when I look in the mirror.
Right eye vision continues to be sharp as a tack. Uh, oh, bad reference, tacks. Continues to be crystalline sharp. I told him that was the really interesting one, since it is wonderful. He was the surgeon on that one. (Left eye surgeon good too, but that eye the befuddler.)
I told him my take, that I had IOP (intraocular pressure) in both eyes before my first surgery in 2004, back in another state, the cataract surgery in the left eye that went to hell and resulted in immediate glaucoma. That right eye still probably has IOP and left eye reverted back to IOP after treatment (nineteen kinds of eyedrops for godsakes), and while I should not stop taking eye drops to control the IOP, that things were at this point, maintaining steady. He agreed. Meantime my eye pressures in both eyes were best in a long time today.
Then we talked about other stuff, not re me as patient, just common interests.
Diane took me there (me with the dilation happening) and then we had tea at Subway. All good.
I do get it that interest in this scenario of mine is small, but still -
If I newly discovered I was dealing with any of this stuff, I might like to read my tread.
no comments or opinions... nem'mind, I found it very interesting, fascinating actually - I simply can't imagine not being able to see, (despite my reading eyes not being 100%) - but, to not see... and then to be able to visualise ... gosh, how amazing that must be for that chap.
Delighted to hear your news. ALWAYS good to hear good news!
