Oh, Ossobucco, so you had your operation on May 5th. The first I knew was when someone mentioned a handsome hunk home aide could come over to apply the ice packs! If that could only happen.

So glad it's over, you're OK, and you say your eyesight will be better? Wonderful, and you've been posting already. How about you! Brave lady.

@Pemerson,
Yes, my lid will definitely go higher than it was. Right now it's a little down because of all the fluid from the swelling. Much better for plain old seeing...

On posting, resting in bed is the worst for the eye, as one wants to keep upright as much as possible. So, what better thing to do while holding an ice pack than use the computer? Well, maybe a movie - that's tomorrow.

@ossobuco,
Holding an ice pack and computing? One-handed typing. What movie are you going to watch. Whatever it is, I hope you enjoy.

Hoping for continued reduction in swelling.

Remembering the doozy eye swelling I had after my surgery. Didn't know about staying upright. Live and loin. The swelling eventually subsided. I was left with a very colorful shiner. When your swelling subsides, I hope you're left with a fully open eye, a lid that behaves, and clear vision.

@Roberta,
She's doing fine! Driving through the neighborhood shopping center yesterday, I spotted Osso on her way into Brook's grocery store so I called out to her. She came over to the car to show me her eye. It wasn't nearly as monstrous as she describes, in fact her eye almost looks like the other one now as far as the lack of lid droop goes. There's a little swelling left, not much -- no bruising (unless she had it covered up with makeup).

@Butrflynet,
Yeah, sister, but that was mid day, early a m the worst, big variation between.. It took me a few days to get used to this, it's a process.

The first morning was a freakout. Read wild bloody balloons around my eyes. Plus I have blepharitis, so I have some taffy between lids even on normal days. Picture very red and gummy besides. I have a capture shot (not of the gummy part) but have to get back on I photo, which I seem to have lost in my last computer plotz.

You are essentially right, as progress is going on. Which I approve of.

I enjoyed seeing you, bfn.

@Butrflynet,
Snort, I'd never ever ever ever wear eye makeup.
That would be putting gold dots on a mule.

@ossobuco,
Uh, this is all a process. The first day after, I was freaking that I might have bleeding. Plus, there was some bleeding in surgery, and I know I have a slightly high protime, in upper range if normal. I'd not been through this type of surgery before. My eyelid was beef liverish a day later, and fat.. I had rays of red lines going down my cheeks, for a few days, each day less, and less in the afternoon than the mornings, all involving whether you sit up all night or not.

On looking online, I guessed what was going on was normal but wasn't sure. Luckily, I talked with the surgical nurse assigned to call me, and calmed down.

I've been fine on it since I caught on that what is happening re the eye is normal.

@Izzie,
I've read it can take from six to eight weeks. Duh, I wish I'd read that pre surgery, or, asked. But, I seem to be proceeding swiftly, at least in afternoons.

@Roberta,
1900... bertolucci..

I learned about staying upright from online, not from the facility. Nurses know a lot but don't say everything to everybody. I respect the UNM nurses. I can't stay upright all night, at this stage, me a reader in bed - but I can aim more to the left.
So what does that do, flow blood to my nose?

So, I'm wee bummed. The lid was upright in surgery but not since, quite. Sure the lid could have been lifted higher, but then I might not have been able to ever close my eyes. Plus I have situational processes, blepharatis being complicating, and I figure they can be.

S0, we are watching healing.

@ossobuco,
Damn!

Well, all these little things they seem to assume are common knowledge are the reason I talked to you when I was having eye problems.

@ossobuco,
Keeping track and hoping things improve.

Not so droopy that you can't see. Not so lifted that you can't close your eye.

@Roberta,
That's about it. Time will tell. I'm grumpy city. Nothing against my surgeon.
Right this minute, vision re looking at the computer screen from that eye is pretty good, not clear but discernible - but because of blepharitis, will undoubtedly vary some time tomorrow - but right now, I can read it online with that eye.

I do think I see better from this last surgery, at least re scope. We'll see how the healing goes. I'm supposed to be healed already, but times may vary. Oh, and that eye's test was les miserable this afternoon. It is a puzzlement.

@ossobuco,
Scope could improve if my eyelid would - but, we'll see.

@ossobuco,
Oh, and besides that, my refrigerator is pooping out and I saw my second f.ing cockroach. Many years ago in my first apartment I was used to more than one or two, which was why I moved, but I've developed a full bodied deathwish to them.
Color me crabby.

@ossobuco,
All right, my refrigerator died, and so did the immediate hope for that eye. Healing time, and probably more, and then another surgery.

I heard from Diane that Dys said I could get a cheap used refrigerator.
I said, yes, I've done that. Our gallery fridge was from St. Vincent de Paul store. And my very first fridge was a transactions re a fridge and a pastel of a horse from me.

Cooking is a big part of my life. I look forward to my new fridge.
