@InfraBlue,
I asked you what point you were trying to make by saying that the AR-15 is the evolution of the M1 Garand. You replied that they are battlefield weapons. The semiautomatic AR-15 is not used by the military.

Yeah, it's no longer a battlefield weapon,

So there is no point in using terms like "battlefield weapon" to describe it.

but that doesn't change the fact that it's a very efficient killing instrument, and much more efficient than the English longbow.

No more efficient than any other rifle that is suitable for self defense.

No, but it's an evolution of a weapon that was.

So what? Why does that matter?

The AR-15 however works extremely well as a mass murder weapon.

No better than any other rifle that is suitable for self defense.

One that shot over your head as usual.

Wrong again. There is no point to any of this silly nonsense about "battlefield weapons".

Yeah, so does a pump-shotgun, or a handgun.

There are certain handguns and shotguns that are categorized as assault weapons as well.

To clarify, the point I'm making is that these weapons are based on a battlefield weapon.

@InfraBlue,
That's not much of a point. It's more like irrelevant trivia.

Unless you can demonstrate some sort of significance to the fact that they are based on an obsolete battlefield weapon?

There is a point in indicating that the M1 Garand was a battlefield weapon and that assault weapons such as the AR-15 are based on it, and that they are highly efficient killing instruments.

That a weapon favored by mass shooters is based on an efficient battlefield killing instrument is not irrelevant trivia.

Uh huh, and I submit that a Corvette with a four-cylinder engine is based on a Corvette with an eight-cylinder engine.

According to anti-gun folks, there have been 242 mass shootings so far this year. So, can you produce anything to support your inaccurate claim that mass shooters favor them?

That is incorrect. Assault weapons are effective at a range of 300 meters.

No handgun or shotgun is effective at that range.

Well first, mass shooters do not favor it. They favor handguns.

And second, it is not based on a battlefield killing instrument. It is based on a long-obsolete battlefield killing instrument.

But setting that aside for a moment, unless you can demonstrate how it is at all relevant that this gun is based on an obsolete battlefield weapon, then yes, it is nothing more than irrelevant trivia.

I highly doubt that. But go ahead and try to explain what this alleged point is.

That is incorrect. You have not demonstrated that this nonsense about obsolete battlefield weapons has any point. It is just irrelevant trivia.
