No semi-auto-only gun is an assault weapon.
I was trained on a selective fire rifle: that could be adjusted to fire in semi-automatic, burst mode, and fully automatic firing mode.
The Colt CM901 is one, to give an US example, which can be converted in less than a second from a battle rifle to an assault rifle, too.

@Walter Hinteler,
That quick conversion ability is interesting. Four rifles in one package.

@oralloy,
you rarely recognize facts. You just make **** up and by repeating it over and over, it becomes truth to you. Too bad, but they have treatments for that.

@farmerman,
You have a big mouth, but you can't back up any of your empty talking by actually providing an example of something that I'm wrong about.

You're the epitome of the saying "All hat. No cattle."

@neptuneblue,

I know Walmart procedures because my 18 yr old daughter completed their gun module this past June. She got hired right out of high school in the Lawn & Garden department. Her dad was in town for her graduation, stopped up to say hi. He talked to the manager and volunteered her for the training. She said the program was stupid & nobody knew anything about guns except for her. She quit Walmart right after her dad left.

So someone who wasn't even part of the sporting goods dept was trained because her dad talked to the manager and get her gun sales training? This doesn't even sound real, I'm going to have to call BS on this.

Quote:
If you have any more up-to-date since then, I'll welcome the information.

I recall them only allowing sales associates who were 21 or older being allowed to sell guns. If things have changed, that's surprising.

Quote:
What other training would I like them to have? A license.

What good would the license do? What other additional training do you get with a license?

So, the fakeness comes into play because the reporter wasn't actually trying to purchase anything.

She was trying to catch Walmart being a bad actor with guns, that was the only reason she did this. It was a real attempt, but she couldn't prove her point about Walmart, that's the only reason why she threw in the part about the gun store.

Interesting? Such was in use already more than 60 years ago in several armies.

I've actually been best with this rifle when shooting rifle grenades from the barrel.

Because if private citizens had access to the background check system, anyone could call in a background check on anyone, and there would be a massive invasion of everyone's privacy.

Landlords (well, good ones anyway) already have access. So can parents when hiring care staff. Private Collections are also privy to the info.

I've explained why a 24 hr period isn't enough time for a background check. I highly doubt any Court will strike down a 72 hr rule. We'll have to see.

The left recently made it difficult or impossible for people to get gun insurance, so now it will be unconstitutional to require it of people.

Check your home owners or renters policy. It isn't a leftist issue, it's an actuarial issue.

@farmerman,
You're lying. The reason why you don't point out anything that I'm wrong about is because you can't.

You're nothing but a fake.

Not really. There is no reason why the records cannot be computerized and immediately available.

You were talking of varying waiting periods. That would mean waiting periods longer than 72 hours. The 72 hour period is already law nationwide.

That is incorrect. It was leftist pressure that made gun insurance difficult to acquire.

Yep, true story.

I posted Walmart's guidelines. Nowhere does it state an employee has to be 21 to work or sell in the gun department. Go back & check yourself.

Lots.

Lots of what? What exactly would making them have a license do?

Nothing fake about it, her only purpose was to make Walmart look bad. It was real, she just failed to prove the point she wanted to make.

@InfraBlue,
By the determination of anyone who bothers to read the real definition.

Assault rifles:

a) are capable of either full-auto or burst-fire

b) accept detachable magazines

c) fire rounds that are less powerful than a standard rifle, and

d) are effective at a range of 300 meters.

This means that semi-auto-only guns are not assault rifles.

This means that guns with fixed magazines are not assault rifles.

This means that guns that fire handgun/shotgun/rimfire rounds are not assault rifles.
