The tribe, where my ancestors lived, was called
Bructeri. They defeated Varus (together with the Cherusci, Marsi, Chatti, Sicambri, and Chauci), participated in the Batavian rebellion, occupied a rather large territory and ... disappear from historical records.
Perhaps, they became part of one of the other Sacon tribes and were later absorbed into the Frankish communities of the early Middle Ages.
At least, my family name comes from the Old Saxon language, the only thing I still have from my "indigenous European" ancestors.
