@danon5,

The General ran from the stage leaving you to calm a very determined woman on a righteous mission...

Good job, dan - Ramona Bennet was also astute recognizing character traits.
What an extrodinary life she's leading. Good story, thanks.

@sumac,
A huge problem for the enviornment and habitat.

Nylon and canvas carry alls, i found, hold four times the amount of product and are easier to carry and store. They arn't expensive either (under a dollar, the canvas bags a bit more expensive) and can be purchased at most if not all grocery stores.

@Stradee,
They charge for plastic bags at stores here - gotta bring your own reusable bag. I've been doing it for years so I've got a good stash of bags in the car (and folding ones in my knapsack).

@Stradee,
Yes, we here in N America are slowly catching up to the way Europeans have been doing things forever - ie., smaller autos and carry your own bag into the market place. About the only thing I have seen that they got from us is bluejeans.

@danon5,
Same here, Beth.

Most stores also give a few pennies discount for tote carrying shoppers - nice incentive.

dan...blue jeans and Chevys. Very Happy

You're correct. Americans can do more to decrease enviornmental stress.

ehBeth, it looks to me like the "Race for Rainforest" is gone. We have a new venue of clicks - looks like we are individuals again. HOWEVER, we WILDCLICKERS will have to stick together...........!

Mulling over how to ask a question at the new site. Will work on it.

@danon5,
Meant winds here ( a good break from the heat) although now theres' a huge fire burning in Auburn - just off of hwy 49 and Bell rd. Helicopters, firefighters from all over Placer Co. - black smoke everywhere.

My tire company was destroyed, a lumber company and many businesess on hwy 49 - homes, property. Unbelievable. Fire began very quickly and is still burning - 25% containment.

Stradee - ahhhhhhh... would be good if many folks could meet up - I met some lovely A2Kers as I travelled and had a fab time in Chicago. Hugs to you and yours.

Hoping to meet the Beth Clan, Canajuns and New Yawkers on my next trip out west- tho who knows when I will get the next opportunity. We'll see.

@Izzie,
Hi Iz! Sounds like you had a marvelous trip! Home safely is good. Smile

The fire began quickly (originating from an RV park - exploding propane tanks) flames and debri carried by winds traveled along the hwy and took out businesses and homes. Soon as the winds calmed though, the fire was contained. They're estimating 500 acres were destroyed.

My home and surroundings were safe from yesterdays blaze, thanks Iz. The town of Auburn is at 1300 ft, my small community at 2100 ft east.

Have a safe day, wildclickers
