I hear Journey is playing the halftime show. They have that Filipino guy singing with them now. He sounds a lot like Steve Perry. Could be interesting!

I made a bet today with a guy at work. I took the Steelers and gave him 12 points. Foolish? NAY I SAY! The great Dick LeBeau is the reason why.

Sooooooo ... this thread came in very handy tonight. Fancy-schmancy lawyer/executron/paid jock kind of after-work thingie.

I started the Superbowl talk, explained my brilliant strategy for picking Steelers v Cardinals some weeks back, offered 11 points up. Startled the bejesus out of some of those suits. Ha!

Thanks A2K football folks.

@ehBeth,
I just realized I was wrong about Journey. Maybe they're playing somewhere in Tampa on Superbowl sunday, but they ain't the halftime band.

It's BRUCE. The BOSS. I'm not as excited as I was when I thought it was Journey, but I guess he'll do.

When you posted that yesterday, I thought maybe Journey would be an "opening act" for Bruce Springsteen. Everybody knows that Springsteen is doing the Super Bowl, Mr. Can.

@wandeljw,
I didn't know. Silly me, up until now I've been paying attention to the actual football teams instead of the spectacle of the thing. I need to get with the program and realize that this game is no longer even a real test of the best. It's a commercial nightmare unleashed on all us stupid sheep who watch football.

@George,
Yeah, there are Terrible Towels being sold at my local grocery store and Columbus in general seems to be pretty Steelers-crazed.

I have been playing the white team and my nine year old daughter has been playing the red team. We have been trying different scenarios using actual NFL statistics. It looks like Arizona will win.

I saw the spread is 3.5 points... for Steeelers. The spread is narrowing.

@Ragman,
My 'bookie'--that's what I call an online sportsbook that sends me emails all the time--just emailed me to take Pittsburg -5 or Cardinals +6.

Sounds about right.

Of course this bunch hasn't been right about many of the picks so far. They didn't pick any wild card teams to win in the playoffs for instance.

@Ragman,
ok..the spread is now 4 points. And, what a shame -- plenty of SB tix are available!

@Foxfyre,
Yeah..you know these guys are pulling numbers out of their hats. My gut says Steelers all the way 'cause Defense wins Superbowls and Cards defense can be sort of like Swiss cheese. However, the Old Man (Warner) and Fitz could pull it out of their hat at the end if they can hang in there.

Putting a micro-brew beer up as my bet. Any takers?

@Ragman,
Can't take that bet. I'm a Steelers man, as you all know.

I just heard that at some point during gameday they are going to give some kind of honor to the pilot and crew of that airplane that landed in the Hudson River earlier this month. Good for those people!

Glad we could help, Ehbeth. The fact that most of us know nothing is irrelevant. I have the Steelers by 12. But, and you may not have the op to get into this is: the head coach and one of his assistants at AZ were, a mere two years ago, at PI. They know the PI system, not only on the field but also in the front office and at the ownership level. The Rooney's run a class act and AZ has emulated that. Two very fine teams at all levels.
