Those must a been some mighty fine symptoms you were displaying for them to come up with such a diagnosis. Surely you asked for a second opinion. We all know how sweet and loveable you are.

::::flees out of reach::::

You want a second opinion? Okay, he's an acute crank

I'd say he's a cute crank. Wink

Hey there...I'm back in town. Never got a chance to call, but will tomorrow. Good to hear he finally saw a doctor...and even better that it wasn't a stroke after all! (I never thought I could ever be glad to hear someone broke a hip.)

I looked it up treatment for an acute crank case and this is what I found. Seems like it would be just as good as that pineal stuff.

Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7.2.1 Crankcase Oil

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Crankcase Oil

Crankcase oils are continuously exposed to combustion products. [cigarettes] They must be able to perform all the functions of lubrication and cooling and additionally cope with contamination from the combustion chambers. [lungs]

Crankcase oils which lubricate all trunk piston engines [brain] are being more severely stressed as specific volumes of the oil charge are reduced [weight loss] whilst specific output (power per unit swept volume) increases [crankiness] and contamination levels from combustion-derived carbon and sulphur contamination levels climb.

On smaller engines, these oils will also lubricate the turbocharger bearings. [hips]

@dlowan,
I'll admit that I've been worried about this

Did Dys break his hip after his stroke when he fell trying to reach his walker? Or did the doctor say he broke his hip earlier and didn't have a stroke at all? I'm confused.

@Tai Chi,
noone staid dys broke his hip, the observation was offered as an attempted explaination for the extreme hip pain as was the observation of nerve damage in junction with the lack of evidence of an additional stroke. There is also no evidence that Lady Diane was dancing naked in the street; the only observation in effect is that Dys has had a traumatic somatic event rendering him someone handicapped. (My BP has remained about 102/62 for the past 10 days) which my doc says is too low. I seem to be regaining some strength and an now able to transfer from seat to wheel chair with little or no assistance; LittleK, my B'Day is the 30th.

@dyslexia,
Hi Dys! Nice to see you posting. Glad to hear you are regaining your strength.

@dyslexia,
Hip, shmip!
Whatever it is -- get better, get the BP in an acceptable range, and report back.

We went out for dim sum the other day. I had a tofu in your honor.

@hamburger,
Hamburger, that is a classic. I agree that it is worth a few hundred dollars by now.

I've always thought that adding beauty to even the most mundane parts of daily living and, "going," was a smart way of looking at the world.

From the first symptoms, confusion, not recognizing everyday things, seemed like classic stroke.

The good news about this possibly being a broken hip is that he is likely to get much more use out of his legs with physical therapy. In fact, Osso had googled all over the place and had her own doubts that Dys had had a stroke,but went along after the doctors said the original symptoms were typical of stroke.

The possibility of neural damage is more than frightening, but I'm trying to stay positive. It's just been such a long time without a complete diagosis. At least treatment is in the works after the x-ray and some kind of scan of his brain. (Just imagine a scan of Bob's brain!!)

His improvement is extraordinary. The doc gave him some pain pills which not only take away the pain, but enable him to get a good night's sleep for the first time since all this started. I believe that sleep hastens healing just as much as most physical treatments.

For the first time, we are taking positive action. It feels so good to have a goal that will help with all his symptoms.

@Tai Chi,
If anyones hip is broken, it's probably shewolfs. She's been trying to kill herself one body piece at a time. (see her other threads) Smile

Nice to see you dys!!!

@Izzie,
This is a quiet time. Which is pretty much a good thing.

Happy New Year to all, BBB, Btrfly, Roger. Izzie, love. LittleK, our spark. Roberta, our foot. All posters, especially the most sardonic.

I want to add Ann in here. Ann is D and D's neighbor. She's a terrific person and cares too.

Here's to 2009.
