@BillRM,
And the problem with that? We also make more money then the rest of the world combined. We only spend like 3% or 5% GDP on the military.

@Baldimo,
You're not very bright. I don't say that we do or don't blame a Democratic Congress for the housing meltdown--but i will point out that taking wild risks with subprime mortgages was not mandated by the House of Representatives, nor is it something which has only occurred in the last two years.

Of course, if you want to blame Congress and absolve Bush for any failures of governance since the 2006 mid-term election, then you can hardly sustain an argument that Clinton is at fault for the failures of military preparedness which you allege are at fault for insufficient armor in Iraq.

@Baldimo,
There were no rules from me--and once again, taking idiotic risks with investors money is not something the government either mandated, nor could prevent. You either know precious little about how the world works, or are using a feigned ignorance as a cover for a feeble argument.

To get back to the original argument you advanced, you attempted to blame Clinton for an alleged lack of military equipment, ignoring that funding comes only from the House of Representatives. Not only that, it ignored that Rummy tried to fight a war on the cheap, and seriously "overstretched" our military resources in the invasion of Iraq.

Basically, all you're attempting to do is play a partisan blame game. No surprise there.

Sorry but our GNP is not eqaul to the rest of the world as large as it happen to be it is not that large!

Our GNP compare to the total GNP of the common market coutries.

Second are we planning on fighting the total militaries of the rest of the world at the same time to need to fund our military to match or more then match everybody else on the planet?

By Ceci Connolly and R. Jeffrey Smith
Washington Post Staff Writers
Sunday, November 9, 2008

Transition advisers to President-elect Barack Obama have compiled a list of about 200 Bush administration actions and executive orders that could be swiftly undone to reverse the president on climate change, stem cell research, reproductive rights and other issues, according to congressional Democrats, campaign aides and experts working with the transition team.

A team of four dozen advisers, working for months in virtual solitude, set out to identify regulatory and policy changes Obama could implement soon after his inauguration. The team is now consulting with liberal advocacy groups, Capitol Hill staffers and potential agency chiefs to prioritize those they regard as the most onerous or ideologically offensive, said a top transition official who was not permitted to speak on the record about the inner workings of the transition.

@spendius,
What's going on is what we knew would be going on once Bushie is gone. A reversal of his power grabbing measures. A restoration of rights like habeas corpus.

I read in the paper today that

"Dick Cheney has used the vice-presidency to transform himself into one of the few objects on this Earth that a cat wouldn't piss on."

Some people just have a way with words, don't they?

@McTag,
I like Dick Cheney; I have always held him in hi regard,
since he was Secretary of Defense.

I wish he 'd been President instead of either of the Bushes.
He is certainly a better American, closer in vu to the Founders
than either of them are.

I intensely prefer Cheney over McCain.
Sadly, he did not want the Presidency.
I 'd LOVE a Dick Cheney-Sarah Palin ticket !
LONG LIVE DICK CHENEY !

@OmSigDAVID,
Yes, there is no greater advocate of a small, non-interfering federal government than Dick Cheney. Confused

@OmSigDAVID,
I'm going more off of what was essentially his administration's actions over the past 8 years. I couldn't give two shits about anything he might say on the subject.

@patiodog,

That 's not a fair criterion of judgment.

A Vice-President is not a decision maker,
except as President of the Senate.

The most that he can do is offer opinions to the decision maker.

It was NOT his Administration; it woud have been better, if it had been.

Did you see where I said I was going to take up arms against the US? Don't be a fool. I'm reserving by bad mouthing of the Obama govt. The only direct action I am taking against the Obama govt. is to not reenlist in the Army. Dems don't do the military right. Cut funding and such, I don't want to see my military rot from within.

Baldimo - were you Guard, Reserves or Army? Or, am I missing something in how all that works?

In my case it was since I read that he advised a companion, when out shooting, who said he was having a heart attack to "Walk it off."

I 'm sure that it is only a scurrilous defamation
motivated by the passionate hate of authoritarian-collectivists.

He has a long standing heart condition.
He is extremely bright.
He 'd never say that.

@OmSigDAVID,
He was reported here as having done so and it impressed me. It was in that story about him accidentally shooting his mate.

I'm quite surprised that you seek to deny it.
