kicky, It doesn't matter; facts are that McCain used that term first.

Obama's campaign has accused the GOP camp of engaging in a "pathetic attempt to play the gender card." In an e-mail to reporters Wednesday, the campaign noted two other instances of McCain using the phrase "lipstick on a pig" and its use by other Republicans such as House Minority Leader John Boehner and Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl.

Was this before or after Sarah Palin's Pitbull and lipstick joke at the Convention? Was this before or after folks started chanting 'no pitbulls' at Obama rallies? Nobody has suggested it isn't a common metaphor used by many and I do mean many. I have used the phrase myself. But I wouldn't have used it in the context Obama did considering all the commentary and conversations related to Sarah Palin, pitbulls, and lipstick. Again, for Obama to do that has to put him in a dumb, naive, or intentionally insulting category.

Obama's plan to tax and spend will quickly force this country into a deep recession and possibly a depression.

@sozobe,
They are very important, but the conservatives have chosen to forget about facts and ethics. I hope McCain/Palin wins the presidency, because that will destroy their party for the foreseeable future. They must hit bottom before people realizes the real personal pain of what they have wrought, and this is the only way they will learn that lesson. It seems that the eight years after Bush with all the problems that are obvious to most, they seem to be blind to them, and want more of the same. Their choice.

Here's one at the top when I searched.

@H2O MAN,
Where did you get your degree in economics H2O?

The reality is that in the 90's with taxes higher than what Obama is proposing we had better economic growth than after Bush's tax cuts.

It seems to me that both sides are guilty of that.
On the dem side we have a VP candidate that has lied about his wifes death, and slandered an innocent man in doing so.
Both he AND Obama voted to fund the "bridge to nowhere".
Obama has some questionable ties in his past, as does McCain.

The dems have made false claims about Palin, and stand by them, even AFTER they have been proven to be wrong.

The dems have made false claims about McCain, yet they continue to stand by them.

There are more, and I can find just as many from the repub side aimed at the dems.

The point is that for you to claim that only one side has "chosen to forget about facts and ethics" is to ignore the truth about both sides.

@Foxfyre,
Dayton Ohio is a long way from the speech Obama gave in Va.

I can find no reference of the chant other than at that Ohio rally.

@mysteryman,
Please compare apples and apples; please list the lies and innuendos by McCain and Obama vs Palin and Biden. You do understand "consistency" don't you?

What happens outside of the candidates cannot be the responsibility of the candidates. They have no control over what people say. You do understand the principle of "free speech" right?

Just curious - with "here's one at the top when I searched," do you mean there were a bunch and you quoted the top one, or this was the only one you could find?

I tried Googling the phrase myself but didnt get very far. Could have been me though. But since you wrote that "folks started chanting 'no pitbulls' at Obama rallies," you must know more?

No, you were engaged, but the discussion could not get off the ground because we don't agree on what constitutes a credible source. "My side" (that's quite an ass-umption you're making) has started numerous threads on issues. Just because it's not in this countdown thread doesn't mean it doesn't exist. "My side" has been pointing out Obama's substantial policy positions since February only to be repeatedly accosted by the "he has no substance" canard. So spare me your outrage.

I copied and pasted the phrase from your post and googled it without any results. Once a space is inserted between the words pit and bulls, then I also obtained hits referencing the waiting crowd in Dayton--yesterday. Although I see nothing wrong with the chant, there is no evidence that it has become a chant at all of Obama's rallies.

Frankly, I don't think Palin deserves the "attack dog" mantra. The phrase suggests biting fearlessness. In reality, however, she has been hiding from the press and their probing questions. I do understand that the McCain campaign has negotiated an exclusive interview between Palin and Gibson (from ABC). What are the terms of that negotiation? Will we see an interview that is aired live as it takes place? Personally, I suspect that the interview will be scripted and practiced (just like her convention speech) with the McCain campaign having final say over the edited product that will be fed to the people.
