@jespah,
Be gentle with yourself.

But, be gentle as you trot up and down the boardwalk for three miles.

@ossobuco,
I'm sure I'm the same weight.

I've been eating funnier than usual this week.. One day it was popcorn for lunch (I finally figured out how to do my own microwave popcorn. Take a small brown bag - they come in packets at the grocery store, very cheesy bags, I must say - add 1/2 cup (I'd say a smidge less) of popping corn, staple top in one small foldover in two places more than 2" apart but not more than 3" and microwave two minutes (I suppose this can vary). Add your own olive oil or butter or spices to the unbagged popped corn.

Tonight I'm looking at farmed catfish (I know, I know, but it is financially accessible) on a bed of olive oil schmear and two minced garlic cloves plus a capful of dried basil, and wee salt, mucho pepper. Oh, a squeeze of lemon.
Plus a curly leafed lettuce salad with 1 tbs of a blue cheese dressing I'm sorry I bought but finally opened.

Since you asked.
I am the odd one at the restaurant table who asks "Are there anchovies in the Caesar Salad?" hoping to hear the answer "Yes.". Caesar Salad is supposed to have anchovies, not just anchovy paste, mixed in with the greens. Invariably, the waitress promises to remove all anchovies and I have to stop her and ask her, if she wouldn't mind, adding some extra anchovies to my salad. "I'll take all the ones you're not putting on the other salads too."

Everyone, the waitress, the other people seated at the table, the couple carrying the baby and the baby seat by, the two overweight men in black tee-shirts sitting at the next table, all gasp. I don't care. I like them.

Sometimes, they bring the extra anchovies in a little cup like the ones they use for people who want their dressing on the side. I like it better when they bring the salads out and mine has a nice toupee of anchovies gracing it's top. More gasps. I don't care. I like them. I like the way they smell, I like the way they feel on my tongue. Yes, the very thing that most people report they like the least about anchovies ---ennnggh, they are so bristly, so hairy--that's what I like the most. That and the fishy smell and the salty taste. Heaven. The occasional crunch. Heaven, I tell you.

Once, at a place near 82nd and Columbus, the chef came out to our table to see who ordered the extra anchovies. "You're just like me," he said, "I love them too." I asked him if he came out to visit with all of the other anchovy lovers, he said he would but, so far in the fifteen years or so he'd been a chef, there had only been one other extra anchovy orderer. "An attractive woman?" I asked, hoping to hear that I had a soulmate out there somewhere.
"No," he replied, "An old Italian guy. He mixed some with the soft roasted garlic and spread it on his bread." He kissed his fingers. "Autentico italiano, real Italian".

That's why it's called Caesar Salad. Autentico Italiano. Chiao.

Now there's an untapped niche right there: dating services for anchovy lovers.
