PROTEIN 101 g

I visited my doctor last week. Kick-bun awesome news all around! Smile

All blood counts and thyroid (I've been on HRT for thyroid for years) are normal.

Overall cholesterol = 200 (it was 194 last year)
HDL (good) cholesterol = 60 (it was 53 last year)
LDL (bad) cholesterol = 123 (it was 124 last year)
Ratio = 3.3 (it was 3.7 last year). Anything below 5.0 is good; I am in an exceptional range here.

Resting pulse = 72
EKG heartbeat = 53 (it was 52 last year), which is athlete level

I have what's called sinus bradycardia. This is not dangerous, and is found is 50 - 85% of the athletic population.

I am up 12.5 lbs. since last year, but I feel great and, per the numbers I am doing very well.

Essentially, the things that slow me down are weight, age and probably not the best of knees. But my heart can, it seems, run a marathon (don't get any ideas, Joe ....). Wink

@jespah,
Great numbers.
I won't have any for here until I get home and weight in tomorrow morning.
Did get a couple of short runs in this week and watched the food so we'll see.

217... Hmmm I think that was the mark at which I started training for my first marathon.....it's not that big a deal.

@Joe Nation,
Haven't been here in a while.

I've been following the plan but I will admit that I'm not being as strict as I should be. I've been exercising but have been somewhat tired, so I've also been slower. As a result of both of these things, I'm up a total of 7.2 pounds since April 9th, which was the most recent week I posted a loss. It's not much, but it's a nibble here and a nibble there (quite literally) and it begins to add up.

As we say, argh. I really dislike menopausal sleep issues.

Here is everything I ate today.

For lunch:
zucchini creme soup with bread
2 cups of coffee substitute with artificial sweetener
a cup of fruit salad

In the evening:
5 gherkins
1 hard-boiled egg
1 liter sparkling water
2 pieces of crispbread covered with margarine and sausage
3 pieces of crispbread
1 liter tea with artificial sweetener

I want to avoid sweets for one month because in the last months I began to eat them almost every day. Now I have increased a bit weight (I do not weigh myself every day so i guess the increase is between 5 to 10kg) and want to loose those pounds. Writing down all the stuff I eat at a day might help being consequent.

I want to write down everything I ate here. Additionally I want to write down how much exercise I did.

Today I ate:

One roll with butter in the morning.
A tuna pizza for lunch.

In between I drank a lot of water and coffee without sugar.
Does not sound very healthy when I read this now. Smile

Ok. Here is the list:

Yesterday I was out after I had written the text here. I drank 1/3 litre of beer with lemonade, ate some crisps and two ribs of chocolate.

Today I got up at 7 am.
Breakfast: two pieces zwieback with butter and honey
one apple
two eggs
2 slices of bread

lunch:
3 pieces rice pudding and compote

in the afternoon:
3 cookies, 3 slices of bread with sausage and cheese, some vegetables and 4 ribs of chocolate.

Sounds a lot, when I read this now. I weighted myself today and what a surprise 82kg (180.8lbs) and I am 183cm tall. That is not really overweight I think, but two years ago I weighted 72kg (158.8kg) and I feel that I have more mass while doing sports. Especially when I go running or when I play soccer.
Not a good development. I need to eat less sweet stuff and to do more exercise.. Smile

Ok. Here is the list for today:

Lunch:
roast pork with peas and green salad
3 ribs chocolate

Afternoon:
4 slices of bread with sausage and capsicum
2 eggs
1 apple

Sounds not that much for a whole day.
Exercise:
I ran 8km (4.97miles) within one hour.
I hope I can do no exercise 5 days a week and I want to do some weight training like sit-ups and push-ups. My wrist still hurts a bit from a soccer injury, so I will wait with the weight training a few days.

@helmi15,
I'm glad you're keeping this up, helmi.

I participated often for years, but my weight has been fine for something like four or five years and I am eating about the same, or maybe more wisely now.
Hope other people join in, since this has been a long time good thread.

@ossobuco,
Thanks for your answer. I hope too, that I will keep this up for a longer time. I gained some weight because I reduced sports and did not alter my eating behaviour. This means eating one bar of chocolate ore more a day. Smile

Glad to hear, that you eat wisely now. Smile

Hope, that more people will join in the future here.

Hello world. Smile

Here is what I ate today:

Lunch:
pork cutlet with mushroom gravy and spaetzle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sp%C3%A4tzle)
one rib of chocolate

Afternoon:
Visiting the relatives.
6 slices of bread with cheese, sausage, eggs and vegetables.
The first time in my life that I came home from my relatives at christmas and I do not feel like someone could roll me around. Smile

Now just before.
1 slice of bread.

Workout:
I ran 6km within 35 minutes and made 30 sit ups.
Thats not much, but I ran also yesterday. So for today I think it is ok.
Before I go to sleep i really have to force myself to eat nothing sweet. I hope this will vanish within time.

Here is my list for today:

Unfortunately I ate something yesterday night in front of my computer.
a salad with potatoes
8 slices of rusk
I always thought that rusk has not much calories. This is not true. Today I bought wholemeal rusk for future days.. Smile

Today:
Lunch
1 pumpkin cream soup
4 blinis with jam
1 rib of chocolate

Afternoon:
1 cereal bar
4 slices of bread with butter, sausage and zucchini
5 bonbons without sugar

I have bought bonbons without sugar today. They taste really sweet and have just 8 calories per piece and my lust for sweet stuff is gone. They are sweetened with stevia instead of sugar and I do not really taste a difference. Interesting is that stevia was not allowed in the European Union just 2 years ago I think because of health issues. In other cultures it is used for hundreds of years I heard and from there no diseases connectet with stevia are reported.... Smile

'Till next time..
