ARE YOU READY FOR SOME BASEBALL?

Some of the Yahoo notices push on the idiotic, as in the day they kept telling me Smoltz was not playing and in my starting roster, adjust roster, while he was pitching a good game in real life. That continued past when the game was well over.

I only have one small bench, a chair, really, with some pillows, for someone I'm dead sure is not playing, or has been sent to Dogeared Southpaw Siberia.

Today I get three notices,

John Smoltz is not playing today and is on your starting roster.
Baseball: Triple A2K: dogeared southpaws
Adjust Roster
Johan Santana is not playing today and is on your starting roster.
Baseball: Triple A2K: dogeared southpaws
Adjust Roster
Roy Oswalt is not playing today and is on your starting roster.
Baseball: Triple A2K: dogeared southpaws
Adjust Roster

Yes, yes. That means they draw blanks. So what? I haven't seen that this subtracts in any way from achieved totals, however good or poor.

I understand by not having SPs pitching full force, I can lose out. But, hey, given the pitcher and his opposition, maybe not so much.

Is there some benefit to keep people not pitching on a bench and then having few on the list of SP/RP/P? Personally, I like having a good long bench, even a player's lounge, for the batters.

And besides, according to other sources, Santana IS pitching.

Interesting, me criticizing yahoo. Snort. I've been learning, and obviously have a lot more to learn, but this all is helping me catch on to and remember baseball.

I might have to explore some of the links Fbaezer gave re soccer fantasy games. Now there I am a real fish out of water - however slightly I've followed world cups or read whatshisname's book on soccer in italy, as I don't even understand the basics re tactics.

This thread has opened up my interest in baseball, since people helped me both reaquaint and to navigate the yahoo site, which dumbfounded me at first (and second, and third...) I suspect I could get to begin to understand futbol. Maybe we could start an a2k dumbass team.... or maybe two teams, in that several people here really know futbol. I don't mean right this minute, but sometime.

This hare went to sleep on Saturday with a hefty lead, only to find out, on Sunday, that he was behind and not able to start his benched pitchers.

This hare lost to the maporsche tortoise. Serves him right!

Aha, you're saying unless I pay, I don't get to see any current data on yahoo?

Now I'm really irritated.

Good, maybe we can work up some leagues, some time, seriously. I'm not the one to lead it, for obvious reasons like I don't know the game.

Plus, I'm busy flaming in my mind at yahoo for today's no stats surprise in baseball. F/em very much. As in, why have I bothered...

I'll either just stop, or figure workaround ways.

I need to get a clearer understanding of when I can move players, and how to move them.

A few times I've wanted to move people into playing spots, and pfffft, nothing's dragging up or down.

Mebbe ignoring it for a week again will help?

I had trouble with that too.

Nothing drags if you don't wait for the X to show on the blue square by the name of the player you want to drag. When you get the X to show, then drag the name to the right, aligned with the name of the player you want to replace and they'll switch places.

If you don't have a blue square, it means the game is already going on and they won't allow you to move a player then.

On stat tracker, I remember you guys talking about it before, but I didn't know what it was, thought it must be some special information site.

You might try this: Go to Your Team. Right above the table of your players, over on the right, is a line that says "Roster (something)" followed by a choice of "Drop and Drag" or "Classic."
I like the latter. Much easier to use for me at least.

I'll give Classic a try.

The blue square/+ option have been giving me fits.

I can see where folks should go - and the blue square's available - but nooooooo

OK, I succumbed and got Stat Tracker.

But I've had an interesting time finding other ways to follow players - not sure how I found it now, but I like the system at the Kansas City Star site for info on injuries, and their game logs (via their team index).

This link will open up to their injury reports, but you can navigate from there.

Let us know how it goes, ehBeth..

I had a hell of a time with that blue button thing at first. It was part of my whole "I'm too stupid to live. Oh, I'll try it again tomorrow" sensibility when I first signed up. I was one very confused cookie. Now the blue button seems easy to me. My roving cluelessness has set its sights on other matters, like stats.
