We had to guard the cat from Slappy. He claimed there's a wok with the cat's name on it in the kitchen.

Thomas and Reg. We ate and drank very modestly, as you can probably tell.

Thomas is demonstrating German kung-fu

In slow motion

There was a first-come-first-serve chair policy. The cat usually won, but Jespah caught on quickly and came in close second.

Seems to have been a really great event!

I like the pics.

But looking at what was called "German kung-fu" ....
... it does more look a demonstration how Bavarians open bottles (which Thomas politely demonstrated on an open one):

you might be right, walter. there were too many open bottles to really remember.

here's an illustration of the nice slovak tradition of whipping fair maidens with plaited willow branches by hordes of men that go house to house for this purpose. in return for the whipping and pouring buckets of water on the unsuspecting maiden, they are hosted with foodstuffs and plied with alcohol, they receive money and easter eggs.... no fairness in this world. none.

Great pics - and fast!

I'm glad you all had a good time. Did Thomas' voice come back?

That is an exceptional photo. It looks like a scene out of a tv series, something like "Boston Undercover", starring Kris Littlek as Detective Jeepers and co-starring Slappy Doo Hoo as her fearless partner.

Every time I would attempt conversation with littlek, she just sat motionless and unresponsive, never changing the same expression in the picture. Just as all women respond to me.

I think she was pondering the awesomeness of my artistic ability.

Nice to see everyone!

Now - details - what was on the menu? what was in all of those bottles?

Who shot the cat?

After I apologized preventively (preventatively?), we served the weird brussel sprout salad (i love it, but i'm a brussel sprout kinda gal), strapachky and halushky (potato gnocchi with sauerkraut and with sheep cheese, poured over with bacon), jes and reg brought the two kinds of focaccia bread, and kris made a moroccan fish dish.We also had an awesome fennel cole slaw, though only Thomas got to taste it, because we forgot to put it out on the table.
For dessert we had lemon pudding (awesome) and authentic chocolate easter eggs from germany.
We drank cider, red wine, beer of all kinds, and fernet on the rocks.

Sounds good. Will you tell me about that fennel cole slaw over the Ask the A2K cooks thread?

I'll go try to find the cooks thread for slaw chat.

Dasha and I went for a restorative hike in the snow today. World's End isn't really the end of the world, but it is sort of the end of the greater boston area. There were rolling hills, rocky outcroppings, stony beaches and no signs of spring. Dasha took photos. It was stunning.

All the while we discussed last night and all the funny things said and done.

What a phenomenal invention. Right up there with thongs & "F.M. boots," or "whore boots."
