Anyone want to meet at Vivace for lunch and perhaps a Nob Hill walk about?

It's fairly near her hotel and the airport for Mame..

Right, I was waiting a bit since I knew folks were up late...

I was half asleep when I spoke with Johnboy; I thought he said he had talked with Dys re the dinner but I might have imagined that.

Osso
Are we going to do Vivace for lunch and St. Clair Winery for dinner? Or are we only going to do one of them? I'm OK for either or for both.

BBB -

I just finished talking with Diane and she had just talked to Mame and they had a similar idea re ease of Mame getting to the airport (and seeing art deco buildings, etc.) -- and decided on Lindy's Cafe downtown. That's on the southwest corner of Fifth and Central - an old fashioned cafe with lots of different kinds of food. Time to be there or be square - 1 PM.

Just looked up the address - 500 Central Avenue.

Thanks for the pic, Francis - it'll be much easier to spot. Glad to hear the whole crowd's coming! Threw away most of my maps yesterday (heh heh) and am leaving now to wander about downtown.

See y'all at Lindy's!

Mame, there's a parking garage just around the corner.

I don't do parking garages and am bringing BBB, so I'll try to drop her off at
Lindy's and find y'all in a bit.

Francis, get over here as soon as possible and we will save you a seat. Much of Europe would then be represented.

Really wish you were here.

McTag, you are far too quiet and several of us are quite hard of hearing. Bob keeps encouaging me to get a hearing aid and I probably will when I have a spare $3,000.00.

Could you really come to one of the southwestern meets sometime? We would love to see you and, for some, to meet you. Besides, you will offset the presence of those "old" Europeans.

Please come.

BBB
An amazing thing happened during lunch at a local restaurant today. As we were eating our food, the waitress came to our table and said another customer wanted to pay for Dys and Diane's lunch, and she pointed out a woman dressed in purple at the other end of the room. Diane went to her to find out why because we thought the woman must know Diane or Dys. The woman told Diane she was so impressed by the love Dys and Diane showed each other when they entered the restaurant that she wanted to buy their lunch. She would not reconsider her intention to honor Dys and Diane's love.

Yes, BBB, that was strange and kind of wonderful. Touching.

For Johnboy, a link re 'your' hotel -
http://www.abqjournal.com/biz/1910929biz05-19-08.htm

For Mame and Thomas and anyone else interested, a good mystery set in Los Alamos and Santa Fe in the 40's -
Los Alamos, by Joseph Kanon (a2k amazon link)

Well, good to me. I like Kanon's writing. I read this and another one by him called Alibi, set in Italy: not your run of the mill mysteries.

Yeah, and not a single picture. The wind blew, it clouded up, the lightning flashed, and suddenly it dawned on me. No Thunder. All flashes from cameras. Someone must be building some kind of really big scrapbook.

And whose fault would THAT be, I ask?

Eva has landed. Hubby and SonofEva also came home tonight, but they stopped by the drugstore on their way into town and locked their keys in their car. I drove up to rescue them, wondering how they had managed to survive on their own for four whole days. Who rescued them when I wasn't around, I asked. Predictably, they looked at each other and didn't answer. (shaking head)

And Hubby was worried about ME traveling alone! Laughing

It was a great trip, and so much fun seeing everyone. It is late and I am tired, though, so I'll write more tomorrow.

Thanks to D&D and everyone else for making me feel so at home in ABQ.

G'nite.
