So, we may have another restaurant to add to the list.
Dys and Diane and I went up to the Santa Ana Pueblo native garden nursery in the Bernalillo area (north of Abq) and afterwards stopped for lunch at the Range Cafe. All three of us loved our meals. Dys was surprised, didn't remember it being that good.
I did my usual new mex food test by ordering a chile relleno with a blue corn batter and a chicken tamale and beans and rice. (They even have burritos with squash and corn, cabalacitos (?) I think was the name.) The beans and rice were exceptional, for sure homemade pintos, the rice being unusually edible for such fare. The tamale was the best I've eaten in new mexico, and the relleno was among the best I've ever had, but, not perfect for ms. picky. Close though. I think D & D both ordered The Roundup, but I wasn't paying attention. Lest this all puts you off, there are many middle american dishes available as well.
So, Bernalillo is a fair drive, but there are two Range cafes here in Abq. We'll have to test the one on Menaul fairly soon. Might even be near where The Shewolves are staying.
Oh, and the desserts, wowsa display, but we were too stuffed to the gills to order.
