Well, if you had spent the last forty years trying to improve upland bird habitat, then suddenly a predator that normally lives 2500 miles away in the desert decides to move in and eat all the bird's eggs, and the birds, I think you'd be ready to start shooting coyotes too.

There is nothing more gutless than a man with a high-powered rifle and scope shooting a loping or grazing animal. What the hell kind of crap is that? If you're gonna hunt, use a bow or a knife.

cjhsa, if you insist on killing coyotes, then I expect you to do so by employing the same devices as were used by this fellow...

If you can do that.... more power to you.

so you get to decide which species deserve to live, and which ones are just nuisances?

Absolutely. It's called having dominion over animals.

We are the stewards of nature, whether I like it and you don't.

Perhaps you forgot that.

Also, I haven't called for the extermination of coyotes. At this point it would be impossible anyway without resorting to means that would inflict damage on untargeted species.

I just don't want them setting up shop in my hunting grounds. They will eventually chase all of the ground nesting birds and deer away, and all I will have left to hunt, will be coyotes (which I won't eat).

Some people sublimate their hunting instinct into the pursuit of wisdom.

You mean the ones that get so "smart" they willingly give their guns to the government so they can in turn be exterminated?

Sad what has happened to Boston, which was so instrumental in framing our Contitution. In fact the entire state seems to have selective memory.

I bow hunt. My deer rifle has no scope. But I want an oversized AR-15 in .308 with a big friggin scope. Hunting's future.
