Good to hear from you, Brook, have you been here and just on other threads?
Hi Joe! I've been around off and on. We just haven't ran into each other!
But it's good to see you!
And speaking of dreams.... I am reminded of another one I had one time. In this dream, I was all alone in a place that was not familiar to me. I was trying to find somebody to help me get out of this building because I had cut my finger BADLY. No one to help me and I couldn't get the bleeding to stop. I remember thinking in the dream that my finger will have to be cut off because I had no feeling in it and I thought it was dead. When I woke up I was definitely glad it was a dream!
Later on in the early afternoon ( I had forgotten all about the dream by now) ...... I was cleaning my kitchen. I cut the index finger of my left hand with the serrated edge of a long bread knife. They have pearl handles and I would wipe them down when I cleaned because I didn't want to put them in my dishwasher for fear the hot water would hurt the handles. And I didn't want them collecting dust. (heaven forbid! I was a fanatical house cleaner and have since learned better! ) Anyhow, I slid my finger right across the top of that serrated edge ...right down to the bone.
Nobody around but me of course! Blood pouring out of that finger so fast and hard that before I could get myself out the door and to my car, the towel I had wrapped around my hand was soaked through and the blood was just dripping. I knew I needed stitches and I knew I needed to drive myself to the Urgent Care Center.
Long story short.....it took more than stitches. Almost 3 hours of surgery on it and 3 months of physical therapy. I had cut both tendons that allow you to bend or straighten the finger plus damaged the nerve. I had a 3rd degree injury to it. I don't really understand that kind of injury but the knife went into me at an angle instead of straight, making the injury worse than it might have been. Doc told me after surgery that it was bad and that I might not get use of that finger back, in which case it would be deformed enough that amputation might be the best thing. I was fortunate to have one of the best therapists around for that kind of injury and it's all healed up now except that I have no bend in the tip at the first joint and the finger is always cold. But I can make a fist and use it just like I could before the injury. Well, for the most part anyhow. To look at the hand it looks perfectly normal.
That dream was almost like a warning. If I hadn't dismissed it and forgotten about it ...... I might have been much more careful ceaning that day.
